<p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Payroll Officer</strong><br><strong>1.0 FTE Ongoing</strong></p> <p>Are you a highly skilled payroll professional looking to make a meaningful impact beyond the numbers? Catholic Education Tasmania is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to deliver accurate, timely and high-quality payroll services while supporting our schools and communities.</p> <p>As a Payroll Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth delivery of payroll services across the Tasmanian Catholic Education Office (TCEO) and Shared Funded Catholic Schools. This is a hands-on, autonomous role where your expertise will be valued in complex payroll processing, advisory support, and continuous improvement initiatives.</p> <p>Beyond payroll, you’ll contribute to a purpose-driven organisation that supports learning outcomes for students across Tasmania.</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage end-to-end payroll processing with precision and efficiency</li> <li>Perform complex calculations including back pay, salary adjustments, leave payments and entitlements</li> <li>Ensure compliance with taxation, superannuation and legislative obligations</li> <li>Resolve payroll issues and identify system improvements</li> <li>Prepare reports, data insights and payroll reconciliations</li> <li>Provide expert advice, mentoring and support to school payroll staff</li> <li>Deliver training workshops and develop payroll resources</li> <li>Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders</li> </ul> <p><strong>What you will bring</strong></p> <p>Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing</p> <ul> <li>Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements</li> <li>Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills</li> <li>Ability to work autonomously and manage complex tasks</li> <li>High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills</li> <li>A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement</li> </ul> <p><strong>Essential requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field</li> <li>Extensive payroll experience and proficiency in payroll systems</li> <li>Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office, HR/Payroll systems)</li> <li>Valid Working with Vulnerable People Registration</li> <li>Current Tasmanian driver’s licence</li> </ul> <p><strong>Desirable:</strong> Experience within an education environment</p> <p><strong>Why Join Us?</strong></p> <ul> <li>Be part of a values-driven organisation making a difference in education</li> <li>Work collaboratively in a supportive and professional environment</li> <li>Opportunity to mentor, lead and influence payroll practices across schools</li> <li>Ongoing professional development and growth opportunities</li> </ul> <p><strong>Additional Information</strong></p> <ul> <li>Some intra-state travel required (approximately once per term)</li> <li>Office-based role with occasional on-site school visits</li> </ul> <p><strong>Apply Now</strong></p> <p>If you see yourself as our next Payroll Officer, we’d love to hear from you.
