<p><strong>Secondary Classroom Teacher – English</strong></p> <p><strong>Southwest Sydney, NSW</strong><br><strong>Full Time | Permanent or Temporary (Terms 3–4)</strong></p> <p>Talent Focus is recruiting a passionate and dynamic Secondary English Teacher for a well-established independent College located in one of the fastest growing regions of Southwest Sydney.</p> <p>This thriving learning community caters for students from Prep to Year 12 within modern purpose-built facilities and is recognised for its collaborative culture, strong pastoral care, academic excellence and commitment to student growth and wellbeing.</p> <p>We are seeking an educator with experience and passion for English who can teach up to Stage 6 Advanced and Standard English and who is committed to delivering engaging and contemporary learning experiences.</p> <p><strong>About the Role</strong></p> <p>Reporting to the Head of Faculty, the English Classroom Teacher will work collaboratively with staff to deliver high-quality teaching and learning programs while contributing positively to the wider life of the College.</p> <p>This role requires an effective and caring educator who demonstrates strong curriculum knowledge, excellent classroom practice and a commitment to ongoing professional growth.</p> <p><strong>Position Details</strong></p> <ul> <li>Full Time position</li> <li>Permanent or temporary opportunity available (Terms 3–4)</li> <li>Commencing Term 3, 2026 or as soon as possible</li> <li>Student supervision hours: 8:00am – 3:30pm</li> <li>Attendance at staff meetings and after-hours College events required</li> </ul> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Plan, prepare and deliver engaging English lessons aligned to Stage 4–6 curriculum requirements.</li> <li>Identify clear teaching objectives and effective assessment strategies.</li> <li>Set and maintain high academic and behavioural expectations.</li> <li>Provide timely and meaningful feedback to support student growth.</li> <li>Promote student wellbeing, engagement and academic progress.</li> <li>Participate actively in coaching, professional learning and pedagogical development.</li> <li>Collaborate with colleagues to support the College’s culture and values.</li> <li>Contribute to the co-curricular life of the College.</li> <li>Model professionalism, integrity and positive relationships with students, staff and families.</li> </ul> <p><strong>About You</strong></p> <p>The successful candidate will demonstrate:</p> <ul> <li>Passion and experience teaching English across secondary year levels.</li> <li>Ability to teach Stage 6 Advanced and/or Standard English.</li> <li>Strong curriculum knowledge and contemporary teaching practice.</li> <li>Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.</li> <li>A collaborative and team-oriented approach.</li> <li>Commitment to student wellbeing and inclusive education.</li> <li>Confidence integrating technology into teaching and learning.</li> <li>Dedication to ongoing professional development.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Essential Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education.</li> <li>Current NESA teacher accreditation.</li> <li>Experience teaching Stage 4–6 English.</li> <li>Active involvement within a Christian church community.</li> <li>Strong understanding of assessment as, of and for learning.</li> <li>Ability to contribute to the co-curricular life of the College.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Desirable Experience</strong></p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with Growth Mindset, Habits of Mind and Visible Thinking/Cultures of Thinking frameworks.</li> <li>Experience using restorative practices within a student wellbeing framework.</li> <li>Experience teaching Stage 6 Advanced and Standard English.</li> </ul>
