Cranbrook School is seeking an outstanding English Teacher to lead our English Department commencing in either Term 2 or Term 3, 2026.
<p><strong>ABOUT THE POSITION</strong></p>
<p>This is a full-time position based at the Senior School campus in Bellevue Hill.</p>
<p>The Head of Department provides leadership and support to staff and students, is responsible for curriculum development and implementation and manages the Department’s budget. The Head of Department – English is responsible for both the HSC and the IB Diploma English courses.</p>
<p>The role will be offered as a permanent appointment to our teaching staff accompanied by a three-year contract as the Head of Department – English. </p>

<p><strong>SELECTION CRITERIA</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>NESA accreditation to teach in New South Wales (required)</li>
<li>Sound knowledge and understanding of both the NSW Curriculum and the IB MYP and Diploma frameworks </li>
<li>Knowledge of evidence – reformed pedagogics to positively impact student learning outcomes</li>
<li>Experience leading a team of teachers</li>
<li>Capacity to create a motivating and engaging learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of all learners through varied teaching strategies and pedagogical practices to maximise learning</li>
<li>Experience with a range of online platforms, including Learning Management Systems, to support learning and provide feedback</li>
<li>Creative mindset and ability to design interactive and dynamic lessons</li>
<li>Organisational skills to manage schedules, events and student records</li>
<li>A level of mobility that supports the ability to respond to a first aid / behavioural incident</li>
<li>Strong physical, mental and emotional health to deal with the required demands and responsibilities of the role </li>
<li>Current First Aid and CPR qualifications </li>
<li>A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children </li>
<li>A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when engaging with children. </li>
