The Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst (CEDB) is seeking applications from highly motivated and experienced HR professionals to join the HR, Risk & WHS team as an HR Business Partner. This is a Permanent, Full-time position, offering a unique opportunity to provide strategic and operational human resources support to 33 schools and approximately 2,000 employees across the Diocese.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Head of HR, Risk & WHS, the HR Business Partner is responsible for providing high-level workplace relations advice and services across the organisation. This role will:

  • Provide strategic and operational HR guidance to Principals, Managers, and employees.
  • Support employee and industrial relations matters, including conduct, performance, grievances, and disputes.
  • Partner with school leaders to ensure compliance with employment legislation, industrial relations instruments, and workplace policies.
  • Assist in the management of change, including job design, evaluation, and organisational restructuring.
  • Act as a key liaison between internal and external stakeholders, including trade unions, tribunals, and regulatory bodies.
  • Contribute to policy implementation, system improvements, and learning and development initiatives.
  • Support cultural and organisational change initiatives in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Generate and analyse HR reports and workforce metrics to inform decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the broader HR, Risk & WHS team to align HR strategies with business goals.

About you (Selection Criteria)
 

We are looking for a HR professional who aligns with the following criteria:

  • Holds formal qualifications in Human Resources or Industrial Relations.
  • Has a minimum of five years experience in a similar role.
  • Has strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships across all levels.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and experience in generalist HR functions, including employee relations, industrial relations, and organisational development.
  • Is confident in handling complex HR issues, such as performance management, disputes, and workplace compliance.
  • Has a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Is highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Possesses a commitment to the values and ethos of the Catholic tradition.
  • Holds or is eligible to hold a valid Working with Children Check.
