<p>The Rockhampton Grammar School is recruiting for a Deputy Head of Primary (Students and Operations) to join our Primary Leadership Team. This full-time position on a 5-year tenure commencing in Term 1, 2025. The School is the largest independent boarding school in Queensland and the second largest co-educational boarding school in Australia. It is a leading school in regional Queensland and one of the foremost schools in regional Australia. Our staff are recognised as being central to achieving our mission.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The School values co-curricular involvement and provide a wide variety of opportunities for staff in this regard.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>POSITION TITLE:</strong>&nbsp; Deputy Head of Primary (Students and Operations)</p><p><strong>DEPARTMENT:</strong> &nbsp;Primary</p><p><strong>CLASSIFICATION:&nbsp;</strong>Full-Time - 5 Year Tenure</p><p><strong>REPORTS TO:</strong>&nbsp; Head of Primary</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p><p>The Deputy Head of Primary (Students and Operations) assists the Head of Primary and is primarily involved in educational leadership, daily operations and student welfare, as well as contributing to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive school environment and learning culture. There is also a responsibility to collaborate with counterparts in the Secondary School to enable continuity of wellbeing programmes and tracking of student development through the primary years and into later years of schooling.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The duties may include, but not limited to:</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><i><u>Support and develop wellbeing programmes that will further develop teachers’ capacity and enhance the performance of students</u></i><u>.</u></p><ul><li>Lead wellbeing programmes, creating a common language for professional dialogue across the primary school</li><li>Develop and enhance programmes, aligning and sequencing with the Australian Curriculum</li><li>Monitor and track behaviour data to ensure structured and well-balanced offerings</li><li>Drive the implementation of wellbeing programmes across the primary school, including marketing and promotion of the programmes to the wider community</li><li>Work closely with Head of Leadership to enhance leadership opportunities throughout the primary school. Aligning with secondary school for a whole school approach</li><li>Manage and track service-learning opportunities within the primary school</li><li>Work closely with the learning enrichment team, to ensure differentiation is embedded in wellbeing programmes</li><li>Initiate and lead ISQ projects, supporting collaborative practice.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><i><u>Provide pedagogical support of teachers to enhance teaching and learning.</u></i></p><ul><li>Working with Head of Primary and Deputy Head of Primary (Academics) to set teacher priorities and direction in alignment with strategic planning</li><li>Providing professional development to increase teacher capacity in analysis of wellbeing data&nbsp;to enhance teaching and learning with a particular emphasis on leading self and others</li><li>Attend whole school meetings and develop professional learning teams to embed whole school processes</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><i><u>As part of the Primary Leadership Team, The Deputy Head of Primary (Students and Operations) will be expected to:</u></i></p><ul><li>Represent the Primary School at School, community and sporting events</li><li>Participate in co-curricular requirements which may include weekend, evening or holiday events</li><li>Model exemplary teaching practice, setting a high profile role within the School community</li><li>Participate fully in Leadership planning sessions, sharing innovative and forward thinking ideas</li><li>Undertake teaching requirements as required by the Head of Primary</li><li>Work collaboratively in a relational style to build staff capacity implementing evidence based conflict resolution techniques</li><li>Plan and implement school events to promote community engagement</li><li>Demonstrate strong emotional intelligence, compassion, empathy and a focus on optimal outcome in the context of wellbeing of students</li><li>Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written and who can engage the primary community including students, parents, alumni and staff.</li><li>Advise, appraise and induct new staff and pre-service teachers and facilitate their identified Professional Development</li><li>Co-ordinate Pre-service teacher programs across the Primary School</li><li>Safeguard and promote the safety of children</li><li>Develop opportunities for teacher collaboration, building trusting relationships while helping others to build their strengths</li><li>Set a positive, collaborative and optimistic tone within the School</li><li>Support the strategic plan of the School at all times</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><i>The role is diverse due to the complex nature of a school environment. The suitable candidate is required to &nbsp;work under pressure and think and act strategically. The School undertakes several screening processes to ensure the appropriate protection of children and young people in its care.
