Marist Regional College is a Year 7-12 co-educational secondary school with over 750 students. The College was founded in 1972 from the amalgamation of Stella Maris Regional College run by the Sisters of Mercy and Marist College run by the Marist Fathers. Its strong and positive tradition is drawn from the faith and commitment of the members of these two religious congregations who, together with a dedicated group of lay people, have served the people of the North West of Tasmania for many years.
The College is located on the brow of a hill with magnificent views overlooking Bass Strait, west of the main business centre of Burnie, Tasmania. The Civic Centre and shopping precinct are within walking distance of the College. The College is fortunate to have several well grassed sporting fields within its extensive grounds.
The College regards itself as a professional learning community in which both staff and students seek and share learning. The College has an excellent reputation for preparing students for both academic and industry pathways. It has a commitment to providing a high quality of pastoral care for staff, students and their families. There is a real sense that staff care for each other, both professionally and socially, and that central to the whole enterprise are our students and their learning.
