Head of Science

The Head of Science is responsible for leading the teaching of Sciences, fostering student learning growth and development, facilitating the design of high quality, engaging and inclusive educational programs, supporting student wellbeing and inspiring students to further their knowledge in the sciences.
<p>Arndell Anglican College is a vibrant, P-12 Christ-centred learning community, through which Jesus is made known. Students are encouraged to grow in their individual abilities and interests within a learning environment that promotes optimism, respect, and ownership. </p><p><strong>The Invitation</strong></p><p>Arndell Anglican College invites applications for the key leadership position of <strong>Head of Science</strong>, commencing Term 1 2025.</p><p>The Head of Science is responsible for leading the teaching of Sciences, fostering student learning growth and development, facilitating the design of high quality, engaging and inclusive educational programs, supporting student wellbeing and inspiring students to further their knowledge in the sciences.</p><p>Reporting to the Director of Curriculum, the Head of Science will lead the teachers of science whilst collaborating with other departments and teacher aides to encourage students to grow intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. The Head of Science will:</p><ul><li>Lead subject pedagogy, programming, assessment, practicals and incursions / excursions focused on student growth and achievement whilst considering differentiation and learning adjustments for all students.</li><li>Ensure programs align to the College’s Frameworks for Learning, Pastoral Care and Christian Thinking.</li><li>Monitor programs to ensure secondary science curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression for all students.</li><li>Ensure teachers are equipped to meet the aims and objectives of the subject, developing resources to aid engagement in the subject and providing mentoring in the teaching of sciences.</li><li>Design interesting and engaging lessons for students with a wide range of learning abilities and styles, providing students with clear and fair assessment, including regular, constructive feedback.</li></ul><p>A full position description and specific responsibilities for each position is available on the <a href="https://www.arndell.nsw.edu.au/about/employment/" rel="nofollow">College website</a>.</p><p><strong>About You</strong></p><p>As the Head of Science you will hold qualifications in Education (Teaching) and are experienced teaching Stage 4 – 6 science subjects. You are goal oriented, highly organised, passionate about the education of young people, able to engage students who possess a range of interests and abilities, able to work collaboratively across the whole school, and preferably are a person of Christian faith. With the expertise and enthusiasm to lead the teaching of sciences your collaborative style and professionalism will see you build culture and community within a diverse and dynamic environment.</p><p><strong>The Offer</strong></p><p>At Arndell you will work with supportive leaders and colleagues in an open, collaborative, and respectful environment.
