<p><strong>Details: </strong>Assistant Director Excursions and Physical Activities will support the planning and documentation of excursions and physical education activities across the ACT Public School System and provide advice to stakeholders about the implementation of the Education Directorate’s Excursions and Physical Activities Policies and Procedures.</p><p>This role is instrumental in the design and delivery of inductions and professional learning (including online) for teachers and executive staff in schools to manage risk and improve outcomes for students. The position will also undertake policy development and management activities as part of the review of the Excursions and Physical Activities Policies and Procedures, represent the ACT Government across a range of committees and forums and provide expert advice on Excursions and Physical Activities to the team, executive staff and Minister for Education.</p><p><strong>Eligibility/Other Requirements: </strong></p><ul><li>A minimum of four years full time (or equivalent) tertiary study leading to the award of a recognised school teaching qualification.</li><li>Current professional teaching registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) or eligibility to obtain <a href="https://www.tqi.act.edu.au/" rel="nofollow"><u>TQI</u>.</a></li><li>A current registration issued through Access Canberra under the <i>Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011</i> <i>(</i><a href="https://www.accesscanberra.act.gov.au/s/article/working-with-vulnerable-people-wwvp-registration-tab-overview" rel="nofollow"><i><u>WwVP</u></i></a><i>).</i></li></ul><p><strong>Highly Desirable</strong></p><p>VET experience and involvement, Cert IV Outdoor Leadership, Cert IV TAE. A wide range of industry experience and active involvement in peak industry bodies (Outdoor Adventure Activities based and Health and Physical Education based) and an awareness of the excursion and physical activities needs of different sectors, primary, secondary and college will be highly regarded. Experience in developing, reviewing and implementing online learning resources and formal qualifications in the areas of risk management and compliance are also highly desirable.</p><p><strong>Notes:</strong> A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
