We have an exciting opportunity for a <strong>Head of Science</strong> to lead our expanding Secondary Science team in HSC Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Junior Science.</p><p> </p><p>As the Head of Science, you will be leading key strategic activities to grow student numbers across the faculty in NSW and online, while supporting the ongoing operations. You will lead a team of coordinators across Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Junior Science, to deliver a remarkable learning experience in the classroom and online, while monitoring the department&#39;s strategy deployment and operations to inform future directions.</p><p> </p><p>Reporting to the Chief Academic Officer, and the role is ideal for an experienced educational department head or leader, with commercial acumen, who is looking to impact Science learning for thousands of students across Australia.</p><p> </p><p>The ideal candidate is someone who is equally comfortable in the classroom and the boardroom. You will have the opportunity to lead a team of highly qualified, experienced and passionate educators while making and executing strategic decisions in growing the department. </p><p> </p><p>This position is a full time role based at our Sydney CBD head office with occasional travel to our campus locations across Sydney.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p><strong>What you&#39;ll do...</strong></p><ul><li>Executing decisions relating to growing the Science department within the framework of Matrix’s strategic plan, policies and budgets,</li><li>Development of course structure, offerings and content for Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Junior Science aligned to the relevant curriculum,</li><li>Pursuing growth opportunities for the Science department through course offerings, curriculum offerings and proposals, online learning and events,</li><li>Ensuring the efficient operation of classes and deployment of resources for the department,</li><li>Management of the annual department budgets and resources,</li><li>Research, develop, disseminate and maintain relevant resources and sharing of effective teaching practices, including self directed training and support material, to enhance academic staff capability with the growth of the team,</li><li>Represent, build relationships and uphold the reputation of Matrix Education with the local community, schools and educational bodies,</li><li>Regularly evaluate student experience feedback on teaching and our educational offerings to ensure ongoing quality of our services and the meeting of learning outcomes, followed by the coordination of the delivery of the feedback and the development and implementation of solutions for improvement.<br /> </li></ul><p> </p><p> </p><p><strong>What you&#39;ll need...</strong></p><ul><li>5&#43; years&#39; of experience in management of educational course design and education staff,</li><li>Demonstrated experience in delivering on qualitative sales and growth metrics in a commercial setting,</li><li>Extensive knowledge of the current stage 5 and 6 NESA curriculum in Science, including methods of assessment,</li><li>Experience with CRM and LMS platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud and LMS platforms such as Canvas or Rio,</li><li>Thorough understanding of student learning styles and effective methods of lesson delivery,</li><li>Knowledge of best practice in engaging students in both in classroom and online learning,</li><li>Strength in translating educational outcomes and business objectives into strategies that lead to successful results for all stakeholders,</li><li>Tertiary qualifications in Science, Engineering and/or Education.
