The Assistant Head RE&amp;S in collaboration with members of the Leadership Team provides support to the Head of Catholic Schools in the formation and implementation of the strategic direction of the Catholic School system, in the leadership and management of schools and in the implementation of the policies and priorities of the Bishop of the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese.<br><br>The position exists to promote the mission of the Catholic Church in education; to affirm the nature and purpose of Catholic Schools; and to ensure the provision of high quality religious education and faith formation that builds staff capacity to inspire students, staff and families to have a deeper relationship with Christ. The Assistant Head of RE&amp;S will work with School Principals and Leaders to build a shared vision that is distinctively Catholic, provides exceptional education and nurtures the call to love and serve as a people of faith.<br><br>The Assistant Head of RE&amp;S will lead a team of Primary and Secondary Education Officers in providing quality advice and experiences to schools in the areas of Religious Education and Spirituality. They will work closely with the clergy of the Diocese, Principals, Religious Education Coordinators, Ministry Coordinators, Religious Studies Coordinators, teachers and other Service Areas within the CSO.<br><br>The Assistant Head of RE&amp;S works with the Leadership Team and other senior leaders in the Catholic Schools Office to respond to emerging issues and trends within Catholic Education. The Assistant Head of RE&amp;S engages in sector-related decision-making and actions the strategic and policy directions of the Catholic Schools Office.<br><br>The role is accountable to the Head of Catholic Schools and may deputise in the absence of the Head with full delegated authority to uphold the policies of the CSO.
