<p><br><strong>About the Role</strong><br>
St Mary’s Catholic School has an exciting opportunity for a School Support Officer to join the team on a temporary basis in 2024. The role will be a part time position where the hours may slightly vary based on students’ needs. </p>
<p>The School Support Officer will support the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality instruction to students in a Catholic School setting. The role will involve:</p>
<ul>
<li>Providing in-class support for teachers and their students with learning needs</li>
<li>Supporting and supervising students with additional learning needs in and out of the classroom environment</li>
<li>Facilitating the remedial reading program</li>
<li>Assisting with data collection and maintenance for legislative compliance (NCCD)</li>
<li>Administrative tasks in support of NCCD and disability provisions</li>
<li>Input into the planning and implementation of Personal Learning Plans</li>
<li>Collaborating with classroom teachers to ensure the inclusion of all students in all learning experiences</li>
<li>Applying appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive learning environment</li>

The School Support Officer will enrich our students’ lives through the following selection criteria:</p>
<ul>
<li>the desire to engage with and contribute to a Catholic learning organisation</li>
<li>experience and effectiveness as a Learning Support Officer, School Support Officer, Teacher’s Aide or equivalent</li>
<li>a capacity to work collegially and collaborate within a diverse team.</li>
<li>sound communication and organisational skills, punctuality and adaptability.</li>
<li>Sound personal skills that include patience, understanding and perseverance</li>
<li>proven capacity to work strategically and effectively through challenges</li>
<li>characteristics that provide a positive role model to students at the College both in their professional and personal life</li>
<li>Have at least a Cert III or Cert IV Education Support (desirable)</li>
</ul>
