Members of the Chevalier College family value every human person, and hold as precious the healthy growth of body, mind and spirit.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Role Outline</strong></p> <p>As a member of the College Leadership Team, and reporting directly to the Principal, the Assistant Principal – Faith Formation and Mission is responsible for fostering and strengthening the Catholic and Missionaries of the Sacred Heart identity of Chevalier College. The Assistant Principal – Faith Formation and Mission shares in the leadership of the College by working collaboratively and creatively with students, staff and families to ensure that the MSC values, ethos, charism and Spirituality of the Heart are visible, lived and celebrated throughout the community.</p> <p>The Assistant Principal – Faith Formation and Mission nurtures a community grounded in faith, compassion, hospitality, dignity and hope. Through leadership, formation and witness, the role supports the College in responding to the invitation of the MSC tradition to “Be on Earth the Heart of God”, fostering a culture in which every person is valued, relationships are life-giving, and faith is expressed through action and service.</p> <p>As part of a network of MSC schools, the Assistant Principal – Faith Formation and Mission undertakes specific work for the Chevalier Institute in consultation with the Principal, and represents the College on the Staff Formation Network convened by the Chevalier Institute.</p> <p>Furthermore, the Assistant Principal – Faith Formation and Mission is required to:</p> <ul> <li>support the Principal in the ministry of leadership, reflecting the mission of the Catholic Church as expressed through the MSC values, ethos and charism.</li> <li>use research, evidence and data to think strategically and respond to the evolving formation needs of students, staff and families.</li> <li>build authentic relationships characterised by trust, compassion, respect and collegiality.</li> <li>foster a culture where faith, learning, wellbeing and service are integrated.</li> <li>maintain a relational approach to leadership, teamwork and community building.</li> <li>possess highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including empathy, discretion and confidentiality.</li> <li>contribute to a culture of loving support which enables imagination, creativity, courage and innovation.</li> <li>encourage a spirit of respectful collaboration and shared responsibility for mission.</li> <li>model a commitment to lifelong learning, faith development and professional growth.</li> <li>nurture a culture of hope which recognises the dignity and uniqueness of every person.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Role Requirements</strong></p> <p>The Assistant Principal – Faith Formation and Mission has oversight of all staff and all students in relation to matters of faith, formation and mission. The role provides strategic leadership in fostering a community where Gospel values are lived authentically and where the MSC tradition informs the experiences of students, staff and families. The Assistant Principal – Faith Formation and Mission works closely with the College Chaplain to ensure the delivery of vibrant liturgy, meaningful formation experiences and opportunities for service that contribute to a flourishing faith community. Through leadership and witness, the role promotes a vision of education centred on faith, relationships, human flourishing and service of others.</p> <p>In the domain of <strong>Faith</strong>, the Assistant Principal – Faith Formation and Mission is responsible for leading and nurturing a contemporary community of faith where the MSC tradition, Spirituality of the Heart and Catholic mission are expressed through the life, culture and practices of the College. Therefore, the Assistant Principal – Faith, Formation and Mission&nbsp;is responsible for:</p> <ul> <li>promoting and deepening the MSC charism, Spirituality of the Heart and Catholic tradition in all aspects of College life.</li> <li>ensuring that an MSC perspective permeates every aspect of College life, including pastoral and learning programs, policies and practices.</li> <li>directly overseeing the Years 7–10 Religious Education program which is led by the Religious Education Coordinator.</li> <li>organising the coordination, development and implementation of liturgies, celebrations and prayer experiences appropriate to the spiritual life of the College.</li> <li>supporting staff in the preparation of prayer experiences for staff and faculty meetings.</li> <li>offering parents and families opportunities to engage more deeply with MSC values, ethos, charism and Spirituality of the Heart through a range of communication and formation opportunities.</li> <li>promoting understanding of the MSC prayerful aspiration: “May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be Everywhere Loved.”</li> </ul> <p>In the domain of <strong>Formation</strong>, the Assistant Principal – Faith, Formation and Mission&nbsp;is responsible for&nbsp;developing opportunities that deepen understanding of the MSC tradition, strengthen Spirituality of the Heart and support the faith and professional growth of students, staff and leaders. Formation experiences encourage participants to grow in knowledge, wisdom, faith, service and leadership. Therefore the Assistant Principal – Faith, Formation and Mission&nbsp;is responsible for:</p> <ul> <li>developing the College Retreat Program, including the preparation and formation of staff who assist at retreats.</li> <li>working closely with the Chevalier Institute in the delivery of retreat and formation programs for staff across MSC schools.</li> <li>presenting and facilitating the annual Staff Spirituality Day.</li> <li>collaborating with the Principal in the development of formation plans for members of the Leadership Team.</li> <li>overseeing the development and implementation of the staff formation process.</li> <li>working with key senior and middle leaders to develop student leadership formation programs.</li> <li>fostering formation opportunities which strengthen understanding of mission, service, hospitality and compassionate leadership.</li> <li>continuing his/her own spiritual, theological and professional development.</li> </ul> <p>In the domain of <strong>Mission</strong>, the Assistant Principal – Faith Formation and Mission is responsible for ensuring that the College's commitment to Gospel values, compassion, justice and service is translated into meaningful action. Particular attention is given to opportunities that encourage students and staff to respond to the needs of others, especially those who may be disadvantaged, vulnerable or isolated. Therefore the Assistant Principal – Faith, Formation and Mission&nbsp;is responsible for:</p> <ul> <li>the development of College immersion programs.</li> <li>the ongoing development of the Social Justice dimension of the College.</li> <li>working closely with the Aboriginal Liaison Officer to ensure effective pastoral support for First Nations students and their families.</li> <li>providing opportunities for the Chevalier College family to deepen their understanding of Spirituality of the Heart.</li> <li>promoting links with the MSC family at the local, national and global levels.</li> <li>promoting opportunities for students, staff and families to witness Gospel values through service, advocacy, outreach and immersion experiences.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Functions of the Role</strong></p> <p>The Assistant Principal – Faith Formation and Mission is expected to:</p> <ul> <li>support the Leader of Learning – Religious Education in the development of effective curriculum, contemporary programming and pedagogy.</li> <li>promote the integration of skills, knowledge and values between units of work delivered in Religious Education and Social Justice opportunities.</li> <li>assist all teaching staff to effectively embed Spirituality of the Heart into teaching practice and pastoral care of students.</li> <li>model quality teaching and learning in Religious Education initiatives.</li> <li>work collaboratively with the Chevalier Institute to ensure engagement in formation opportunities including Douglas Park retreats and Issoudun pilgrimages.</li> <li>assist with formation opportunities for Board Members including retreat programs and induction processes.</li> <li>promote a culture in which relationships are central to learning, wellbeing, formation and mission.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Other functions of the role include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>developing mutually cooperative and supportive relationships with the local Diocese.</li> <li>supporting the College's capacity and willingness to respond with compassion and practical care to those in need, particularly those who may be disadvantaged, vulnerable or isolated within the community.</li> <li>liaising with the marketing department to ensure the visible and authentic promotion of MSC values, ethos and charism.</li> <li>undertaking professional learning.</li> <li>undertaking feedback loops and a major performance review in the third year of the role.</li> <li>maintaining an efficient system for budget control and resource management for Mission, Liturgy and Staff Formation.</li> <li>maintaining up-to-date records of staff professional development and spiritual formation.</li> <li>ensuring Work Health and Safety requirements are maintained for all activities.</li> <li>undertaking other duties as requested by the Principal.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Please note</strong></p> <ul> <li>The preferred applicant is required to undertake extracurricular responsibilities as part of the employment arrangements at the College.</li> <li>Salary and conditions will be as per the NSW Catholic Independent Schools (Teachers – Model B) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2023.</li> <li>This is a child-related position.&nbsp;Preferred candidates are required to possess a valid a Working With Children Check and will be subject to identification verification.</li> </ul>
