The school has a strong link with the Gungahlin Anglican Church which shares facilities and resources with the school.</p> <p><strong>Terms</strong></p> <p>A&nbsp;Leadership&nbsp;Allowance&nbsp;(Level&nbsp;1)&nbsp;and&nbsp;0.3&nbsp;release&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;paid,&nbsp;commensurate&nbsp;with&nbsp;the responsibility of the position.</p> <p><strong>LINE&nbsp;MANAGEMENT</strong></p> <ul> <li>Responsible&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;Deputy&nbsp;Head&nbsp;of&nbsp;Middle&nbsp;School&nbsp;Learning&nbsp;and&nbsp;Teaching,&nbsp;Head&nbsp;of Middle School and ultimately the Principal.</li> </ul> <p><strong>LEADER&nbsp;OF&nbsp;INNOVATIVE&nbsp;LEARNING (0.3&nbsp;RELEASE)</strong></p> <ul> <li>Proactively&nbsp;foster&nbsp;the&nbsp;development&nbsp;of&nbsp;a&nbsp;cohesive&nbsp;teaching&nbsp;and&nbsp;learning&nbsp;culture which is student focused</li> <li>Oversee&nbsp;implementation&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Australian&nbsp;Curriculum&nbsp;across&nbsp;Years&nbsp;6-8&nbsp;and&nbsp;in collaboration with Years 5 and 9</li> <li>Drive&nbsp;and&nbsp;inspire&nbsp;interdisciplinary&nbsp;initiatives,&nbsp;using&nbsp;the&nbsp;principles&nbsp;of&nbsp;Project&nbsp;Based Learning, across each year level</li> <li>Oversee&nbsp;and&nbsp;co-ordinate&nbsp;the&nbsp;scope&nbsp;and&nbsp;sequence&nbsp;within&nbsp;the&nbsp;curriculum&nbsp;to&nbsp;ensure&nbsp;a smooth transition for students through different year levels</li> <li>Work&nbsp;collaboratively&nbsp;with&nbsp;the&nbsp;middle&nbsp;school&nbsp;leadership&nbsp;team&nbsp;to&nbsp;ensure&nbsp;best&nbsp;practice in teaching, learning and wellbeing across the Middle School</li> <li>Use&nbsp;data&nbsp;to&nbsp;inform&nbsp;and&nbsp;improve&nbsp;teaching&nbsp;practices&nbsp;across&nbsp;Middle School</li> <li>Understand,&nbsp;share&nbsp;and&nbsp;apply&nbsp;contemporary&nbsp;educational&nbsp;research&nbsp;to&nbsp;meet&nbsp;the&nbsp;needs of young adolescents</li> <li>Assist&nbsp;teachers&nbsp;in&nbsp;designing&nbsp;tiered&nbsp;lessons&nbsp;to&nbsp;differentiate&nbsp;instruction&nbsp;in&nbsp;content, process and product, to meet the needs of all students</li> <li>Assist&nbsp;teachers&nbsp;in&nbsp;designing&nbsp;lessons&nbsp;utilising&nbsp;high&nbsp;impact&nbsp;teaching&nbsp;strategies</li> <li>Explore&nbsp;and&nbsp;implement&nbsp;extension&nbsp;opportunities&nbsp;within&nbsp;and&nbsp;beyond&nbsp;the&nbsp;classroom</li> </ul> <p><strong>TEACHING DUTIES</strong></p> <ul> <li>Responsible for the pastoral care of a class of Middle School students</li> <li>Teach with a focus on developing higher order thinking skills</li> <li>Demonstrate a passion for effective teaching and learning</li> <li>Collaborate effectively with teaching colleagues</li> <li>Contribute effectively to curriculum development</li> <li>Liaise with students and parents</li> <li>Participate in the school’s co-curricular program which may include weekend activities</li> <li>Attend staff meetings and professional development</li> <li>Support the Christian ethos of an Anglican School</li> <li>Other duties as required</li> </ul> <p><strong>SELECTION CRITERIA</strong></p> <ul> <li>A relevant Teaching qualification&nbsp;</li> <li>Experience in teaching the Australian Curriculum and the ability to contribute effectively to curriculum development&nbsp;</li> <li>A passion for effective learning and teaching&nbsp;</li> <li>An interest in working with adolescents&nbsp;</li> <li>The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues</li> <li>The ability to plan a differentiated learning and teaching program aimed at meeting students’ learning styles and varied academic needs&nbsp;</li> <li>A commitment to the ideals and ethos of Middle Schooling&nbsp;</li> <li>Demonstrated skill and experience in outcomes-based planning and assessment&nbsp;</li> <li>Demonstrated skill and experience in developing learning experiences that promote higher-order thinking&nbsp;</li> <li>The ability to effectively integrate ICT into classroom learning experiences&nbsp;</li> <li>Willingness to participate in the school’s co-curricular program <ul> <li>Covering letter, addressing the criteria listed above and outlining how you would approach the position (no more than 3 pages in length).&nbsp;</li> <li>Curriculum vitae (no more than 4 pages).&nbsp;</li> <li>A copy of your academic transcript</li> <li>Teacher Quality Institute registration.&nbsp;
