<p>At St Patrick’s College, we believe music enriches the educational experience of young people, fostering creativity, collaboration and confidence. As part of our commitment to a vibrant Performing Arts program, we are seeking a <strong>Music Assistant</strong> to support the day-to-day operation of our Music Department and the delivery of practical music programs across the College.</p> <p><strong>This is a newly created Permanent Full-Time (Averaged), term-time position commencing in Term 1, 2027.</strong></p> <p>Working closely with the Head of Performing Arts and Music teachers, the Music Assistant will:</p> <ul> <li>Assist Stage 3 Music classes, particularly keyboard and glockenspiel lessons.</li> <li>Support students during practical classroom activities.</li> <li>Prepare, organise and maintain music resources, instruments and equipment.</li> <li>Assist with classroom setup and pack-down.</li> <li>Coordinate instrument maintenance, repairs and stock control.</li> <li>Support the setup and operation of concerts, performances and Music Department events.</li> <li>Maintain organised music libraries, files and departmental resources.</li> <li>Contribute to safe, well-presented and effective learning spaces.</li> </ul> <p>This role would suit an organised and enthusiastic individual with strong music skills who enjoys working with young people and supporting music education.</p> <p><strong>Essential Criteria</strong></p> <ul> <li>A working understanding of, and commitment to, the Catholic ethos of a School in the Edmund Rice tradition.</li> <li>Demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours and professional boundaries that reflect child safeguarding values in practice.</li> <li>Ability to read music.</li> <li>Experience working in music, performing arts, education or a related environment.</li> <li>Demonstrated interest in music education and supporting student learning.</li> <li>Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.</li> <li>Ability to manage equipment, instruments and resources effectively.</li> <li>Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.</li> <li>Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing deadlines.</li> <li>Commitment to maintaining safe, clean and organised learning environments.</li> <li>Sound computer literacy and administrative skills.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Highly Desirable</strong></p> <ul> <li>Qualifications or experience in Music, Performing Arts, Education or a related field.</li> <li>Experience working with children or young people in educational, community or music settings.</li> <li>Experience supporting music ensembles, performances or classroom music programs.</li> <li>Knowledge of instrument care and maintenance.</li> <li>Experience managing stock control, procurement and supplier relationships.</li> <li>An interest in supporting student creativity, performance and artistic development.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Why Join Us?</strong></p> <p>At St Patrick’s College, you will join a thriving Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition, educating more than 1,630 boys across Years 5–12.</p> <p>We are proud of our vibrant Performing Arts program and our commitment to fostering creativity, confidence and excellence through music.
