Strongly inclusive, the College prides itself on its diversity as it welcomes students from all backgrounds and cultures.</p> <p>For further information about Edmund Rice College, please visit our website - <a href="https://www.edmundricecollege.nsw.edu.au" rel="nofollow">www.edmundricecollege.nsw.edu.au</a>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><u>The Role</u></strong></p> <p>Edmund Rice College is seeking to appoint a permanent full-time, suitably qualified and highly experienced Literacy Coordinator (Years 7–12) to commence in 2027, or by negotiation.</p> <p>Reporting to the Director of Learning &amp; Teaching, the Literacy Coordinator is a specialist leadership role driving cross-curricular pedagogical consistency, case-managing targeted student literacy interventions, and leading staff capacity building in explicit grammar and language mechanics across the College.</p> <p>Key responsibilities are structured around three core pillars:</p> <ul> <li><strong>Data Analysis and Targeted Student Intervention:</strong> Translate whole-school literacy data into actionable case management. Design and facilitate targeted small-group clinics for students requiring foundational support in grammar, punctuation, and writing structure, while establishing extension pathways for high-achieving writers.</li> <li><strong>Cross-Curricular Pedagogical Alignment:</strong> Collaborate with Heads of Department across all Key Learning Areas (including Science, HSIE, TAS, PDHPE &amp; Religious Education) to establish subject-specific writing demands and embed whole-college scaffolding for sentence structure and paragraphing.</li> <li><strong>Staff Capacity Building and Professional Development:</strong> Draw upon evidence-based frameworks (including NESA and AERO) to lead targeted staff professional learning, including NESA-accredited training programs, to build whole-staff confidence in delivering explicit grammar instruction and corrective feedback.</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>About You</u></strong></p> <p>The successful candidate will be an outstanding educator with demonstrated expertise in explicit literacy pedagogy, data-informed instruction, and cross-curricular leadership within a secondary school environment.</p> <p>To be considered for this position, you must be a highly dedicated professional who meets the following criteria:</p> <ul> <li>An education degree from an approved and recognised tertiary institution.</li> <li>Post-graduate qualifications in English, literacy education, or educational leadership are desirable.</li> <li>Demonstrated experience in leading whole-school or cross-curricular literacy initiatives and explicit writing instruction.</li> <li>Proven ability to analyse student achievement data to design targeted interventions and academic extension programs.</li> <li>Demonstrated experience in academic care associated with boys' education and tailoring literacy strategies to adolescent male learners.</li> <li>Accreditation with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to mentor staff across diverse faculties.</li> <li>Proven organisational skills, including multi-tasking, program management, and meeting deadlines.</li> <li>High ethical standards, confidentiality, and integrity.</li> <li>Commitment to the Edmund Rice values and ethos of the College.</li> <li>Willingness to support the Catholic ethos and learning culture of the College.</li> <li>Possess a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).</li> <li>A commitment to child safeguarding principles.</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>The Process</u></strong></p> <p>Applications (including CV and covering letter) to be submitted through <a href="http://www.edmundricecollege.nsw.edu.au" rel="nofollow">www.edmundricecollege.nsw.edu.au</a> by <strong>20 August 2026</strong>.</p> <p>The appointment of a successful candidate is conditional and based on the successful completion of all pre-employment screening, including child-related employment and reference checks.</p> <p>For further information about the role, please refer to the attached position description.</p>
