Middle/Senior School Teaching & Learning Assistant - Support students to learn, grow and thrive as part of The Cathedral School’s Middle School/Senior School Learning Enrichment team.
<p><strong>Part-time, term-time maternity leave contract: 7 September 2026 – 3 December 2027</strong></p>
<p><strong>8.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday Term-time</strong></p>

<p>The Cathedral School is seeking a dedicated Middle School/Senior School Teaching & Learning Assistant to join our Learning Enrichment team. This part-time, term-time maternity leave contract offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with teachers and specialist staff to support students with learning difficulties, impairments, English as an additional language, and other additional needs.</p>
<p><strong>About the Role</strong></p>
<p>As a Middle/Senior School Teaching & Learning Assistant, you will support classroom teachers to help students achieve the learning goals documented in Individual Support and Education Plans. Working under the guidance of the Head of Learning Enrichment and the Middle/Senior School Learning Support Teachers, you will assist with individual and small-group learning support, resource preparation, student supervision, observations and administrative tasks that contribute to quality learning outcomes.</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<p>Work with students individually and in small groups under the direction of classroom teachers.</p>
<p>Assist with the implementation of individual and small-group support programs documented in students’ Individual Support and Education Plans.</p>
<p>Prepare and organise classroom, school and specialised learning resources to support student learning goals.</p>
<p>Monitor student performance, share observations and assist teachers with record keeping and reporting information.</p>
<p>Provide supervision and support during classroom activities, playground duties, excursions, school sport and other school events as required.</p>
<p>Assist with general administrative and resource duties, including filing, photocopying, preparing student files and caring for department equipment and materials.</p>

<p>Follow direction from the Head of Middle School, Head of Learning Enrichment, Middle/Senior School Learning Support Teachers and relevant classroom teachers.</p>
<p>Treat students with dignity and respect, model appropriate behaviour and contribute to a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.</p>
<p>Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries and appropriate communication with students, families and colleagues.</p>
<p>Comply with school policies and procedures, including child safety, work health and safety, privacy, mandatory training and reporting requirements.</p>
<p>Attend staff meetings, professional development and school activities when required.</p>
<p><strong>About You</strong></p>

<p><strong>Qualifications & Requirements:</strong></p>
<p>Certificate III in Education Support, or equivalent skills and experience.</p>
<p>Current Working with Children Check/Suitability Notice (Blue Card), or eligibility to obtain one.</p>
<p>Current First Aid and CPR certification.</p>
<p>Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office.</p>
<p>Experience in a school setting and an understanding of behaviour management, work health and safety and inclusive practice will be highly regarded.</p>
