This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading Anglican co-educational school and play a significant role in developing student athletes, fostering a strong rowing culture and building a program that supports participation, excellence and personal growth.</p> <p><strong>About The Cathedral School</strong></p> <p>Located in Townsville, North Queensland, The Cathedral School is an Anglican co-educational school from Early Learning to Year 12, including boarding. Set beside a lagoon and surrounded by lush tropical raintrees, the School provides a unique and inspiring environment in which students are challenged and supported to explore, learn and grow.</p> <p>For more than 20 years, Cathedral has delivered a strong rowing program catering for students of all abilities, from Learn to Row through to Australian Championship level. We are proud of our supportive rowing culture, where students are encouraged to participate, strive for personal excellence and achieve their best both on and off the water.</p> <p><strong>About the Role</strong></p> <p>This full-time position is responsible for leading all aspects of the School's rowing program, from introducing Year 7 and 8 students to the sport through our Learn to Row sessions, oversee the formal competitive inter-school program for Years 7 to 12 between April and August, and support the preparation of senior rowers for Australian Championships from October to March.</p> <p>&nbsp;The successful applicant will work closely with the Rowing Administrator, assistant coaches, students and families to deliver a positive, safe and high-performing rowing program.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Key responsibilities include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Leading and delivering the School's rowing program across Years 7-12.&nbsp;</li> <li>Developing and implementing effective on-water and land-based training programs.&nbsp;</li> <li>Coaching and mentoring students of all abilities, from beginners to elite rowers.&nbsp;</li> <li>Promoting participation and growth in rowing throughout the School community.&nbsp;</li> <li>Supervising and supporting assistant coaches.&nbsp;</li> <li>Attending training sessions, regattas, camps, State Championships and National Championships.&nbsp;</li> <li>Managing equipment, facilities, safety requirements and risk management processes.&nbsp;</li> <li>Building strong relationships with students, parents and staff while fostering a positive team culture.</li> </ul> <p><strong>About You</strong></p> <p>To be successful in this role, you will possess:</p> <ul> <li>Rowing Australia Level 2 Coaching Accreditation (or Level 1 with a commitment to obtaining Level 2)</li> <li>Extensive rowing experience, including a minimum of three years as a competitive or professional rower</li> <li>Current Marine Licence</li> <li>Current Driver Licence (MR/HR Licence desirable)</li> <li>Current First Aid and CPR certification</li> <li>Current Blue Card (or ability to obtain)</li> <li>Strong leadership, communication and relationship-building skills</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate young people</li> <li>Experience developing high-performance athletes and rowing crews</li> <li>Sound understanding of rowing competitions and athlete development pathways in Australia</li> <li>Excellent organisational and risk management skills</li> <li>A commitment to student safety, wellbeing and the values of the School.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Why Join Cathedral?</strong></p> <p>This is an exciting opportunity to lead a respected school rowing program and contribute to a vibrant school community that values excellence, participation, teamwork and personal growth.</p> <p>The remuneration package includes a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience, together with a motor vehicle allowance and phone allowance.&nbsp;</p> <p>You will also enjoy the lifestyle and opportunities that come with living in tropical North Queensland.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Child Safety Commitment</strong></p> <p>All staff at Cathedral are expected to support the philosophies of the School and contribute to a culture of child safety and wellbeing.
