We are looking for an experienced and capable Financial Accountant/Bursar to become an integral member of our Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical accounting expertise with meaningful collaboration, helping ensure the College's financial sustainability and supporting its strategic goals.

<p>The Junior School campus (R-6 years) has commenced construction, and it is anticipated to be open at the start of the 2027 school year. </p>

<p><strong>About the role - Full Time - Permanent</strong></p>
<p>Reporting directly to the Business Manager, the Financial Accountant/Bursar is responsible for delivering high-quality financial accounting services and ensuring the integrity of the College's financial information. The role encompasses financial reporting, statutory compliance, budgeting support, reconciliations and financial analysis, while also contributing to continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.</p>
<p>Working closely with leaders and staff across the College, you will provide reliable financial information that supports informed decision-making and promotes sound financial governance.</p>

<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>
<p>Your responsibilities will include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Preparing accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports.</li>
<li>Completing balance sheet reconciliations, journals, accruals and other month-end activities.</li>
<li>Maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and supporting the College's financial control framework.</li>
<li>Assisting with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and financial modelling.</li>
<li>Supporting taxation obligations, statutory reporting, year-end financial statements and the external audit process.</li>
<li>Monitoring compliance with accounting standards, legislative requirements and internal policies.</li>
<li>Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and system efficiencies.</li>
<li>Providing responsive financial advice and support to staff across the College.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>The successful applicant will have:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline</li>
<li>CPA or CA membership (or be working towards qualification) would be highly regarded</li>
<li>At least three years' experience in a comparable role</li>
<li>A should understanding of Australian accounting standards and financial reporting requirements</li>
<li>Hold or be willing and able to obtain and maintain a current clearance to work with children (WWCC)</li>
<li>Hold or be willing to maintain a current Responding to Risk, Harm and Neglect in an educational setting (RRHAN-EC)</li>
<li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills</li>
<li>Strong financial accounting skills, with excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities</li>
<li>Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan, set, and prioritise work and the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines</li>
<li>Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and proof-reading skills</li>
<li>Professional and committed to confidentiality and privacy</li>
<li>Ability and desire to actively support the values and ethos of a Christian school.</li>
