<p>Blue Gum Community School is a unique small independent school built on the mantra of <i><strong>Relationships First</strong></i>. Students explore real-world learning through Research during the school day. After-school and school holidays offer an extra dimension focused on <strong>Recreation </strong>- where new worlds and personal passions are explored with students.</p> <p>Blue Gum Community School opened in 1998, and is located in Hackett and Dickson. Blue Gum offers a variety of education programs from birth to 16 years - playgroups (birth to 2); preschool (3-5); primary (5-12); secondary (12-16) - and also runs its own OOSH program (after-school and during school hols).</p> <p>Web: <a href="https://www.bluegum.act.edu.au" rel="nofollow">www.bluegum.act.edu.au</a> or Insta: @blue_gum_community_school</p> <p><strong>Role Description</strong></p> <p>Blue Gum's OOSH (Out of School Hours) Recreation Director works part-time (2-6pm) during school terms, &amp; full-time (8am-4pm) during school holidays. Blue Gum closes from mid-December to mid-January each year. The Director will energise an inspiring team of 3 to create amazing experiences for/with 5-12 year olds (approx. 20 participants).&nbsp;<br> Salary range: $90,000-$130,000pa (pro-rata) + super.</p> <p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Passion for adventure and exploring new ideas, as well as tried-and-true recreation activities.</li> <li>Well-developed listening skills and ability to work collaboratively... based on a strong work ethic.</li> <li>Advocate for children's right to play as a fundamental human right.</li> <li>Hands-on manager with well-developed organising skills and commitment to accountability.</li> <li>Previous experience planning/running engaging programs/activities for young children.</li> <li>Ideally, knowledge of OOSH regulations or similar programs, e.g. Scouts.</li> <li>First Aid quals, Working with Vulnerable People card, GECCKO training (or willing to obtain).</li> </ul> <p><strong>Employment Type</strong></p> <p>Part-time</p> <p><strong>Must-have qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) card?</li> <li>First Aid qualifications?</li> <li>Education qualifications?</li> </ul> <p><strong>Covering letter is essential; needs to include the following:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Please articulate your personal philosophy/beliefs around working with children.</li> <li>Explain why Blue Gum appeals to you as a workplace.&nbsp;</li> <li>What special talents/interests would you bring to share with our students, after-school and during school hols?</li> <li>Describe your ideal recreation space, and its essential elements.</li> <li>Nominate 2 referees.</li> </ul> <p>Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.&nbsp;<br> NB: Blue Gum cannot sponsor overseas applicants.</p>
