Cranbrook School is seeking an experienced and energetic Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic Senior School team at our Bellevue Hill campus. This is a temporary parental leave cover position within the Science Department, commencing in Term 3, 2026 and concluding at the end of Term 1, 2027

<p>Cranbrook School is seeking an experienced and energetic Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic Senior School team, based at our Senior School Campus in Bellevue Hill.</p>
<p><strong>ABOUT THE POSITION</strong></p>
<p>This is a temporary position to cover a period of parental leave commencing in Term 3, 2026 and finishing at the end of Term 1, 2027. Laboratory Technicians work in term-time only.</p>
<p>The Laboratory Technician provides support to the Science Department and assists Teaching staff with the delivery of practical activities. The Laboratory Technician provides classroom support, particularly to senior students and have an integral role in student learning.</p>
<p>Responsibilities include maintaining the safety of the School’s science laboratories, cleaning equipment, daily restocking of laboratories, recording and keeping stock supplies up to date, maintaining inventories of chemicals and stock, preparation of chemical stock solutions, practical lessons and practical examinations and general administrative duties.</p>
<p><strong>ABOUT YOU</strong></p>
<p>You have experience in a practical role and thrive in a busy and varied work environment. A background in a similar role will be highly regarded.</p>
<p>With exceptional interpersonal skills, you have excellent time management and organisational ability and can assist teachers and students to achieve better outcomes.</p>
<p>You are professionally presented, collegiate, and are a champion of best practices, workplace health and safety, compliance and risk management.</p>
<p><strong>SELECTION CRITERIA</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Relevant work-related experience in a technical field or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training. A Degree or Diploma will be an advantage.</li>
<li>Ability to work both independently and as part of a team</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to continually adapt to new technologies to assist with new practices for teachers and students</li>
<li>An understanding of relevant workplace health and safety, compliance and risk management requirements</li>
<li>Willingness to undertake relevant training if required</li>
<li>A good level of computer literacy including using Word, Excel and Outlook</li>
<li>Willingness to take ownership of tasks and accept responsibilities</li>
<li>A flexible approach to changing priorities in the workplace</li>
<li>A friendly, kind and courteous manner</li>
<li>Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills</li>
<li>A level of mobility that supports the ability to respond to a first aid / behavioural incident</li>
<li>Strong physical, mental and emotional health to deal with the required demands and responsibilities of the role</li>
<li>Current First Aid and CPR qualifications</li>
<li>A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children</li>
<li>A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.</li>
