Learning Support Officer

<p>Commencing <strong>Monday 20 July 2026</strong>, the role will contribute to the delivery of targeted learning support, classroom assistance, and inclusive practices that help students build confidence, independence, and academic success.</p>
<p>As part of St Patrick’s College’s overall commitment to the education of every child, the school has developed a strong Diverse Learning Team that offers support across Stage 3 to Stage 6. Specialist teachers and Learning Support Officers assist students with diverse learning needs across all Key Learning Areas enabling students to access the curriculum and to achieve to the best of their ability.</p>
<p><strong>Key Duties</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Provide individual and small-group support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities, learning difficulties, and additional needs.</li>
<li>Support literacy and numeracy development, including helping with homework and reinforcing key concepts.</li>
<li>Assist students with social, emotional, and behavioural skills, and supervise during breaks, excursions, and other activities.</li>
<li>Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing, assisting with behaviour management and reinforcing classroom rules.</li>
<li>Implement a range of teaching and learning strategies under teacher guidance, such as one-on-one instruction, cooperative learning, scaffolding, modelling, and worked examples.</li>
<li>Assist classroom teachers in delivering differentiated learning and making curriculum adjustments as indicated in learning plans.</li>
<li>Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and relevant staff.</li>
<li>Assist with data collection and maintenance for legislative compliance (NCCD).</li>
<li>Undertake administrative tasks in support of NCCD and disability provisions.</li>
<li>Supervise students in various settings, including playgrounds, extracurricular activities, and school excursions.</li>
<li>Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families to ensure consistent support for students.</li>
<li>Participate in school activities, including staff meetings and professional learning sessions, as required.</li>
<li>Contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment, aligned with school policies and child safety standards.</li>
</ul>
<p>To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate you satisfy all the following essential selection criteria:</p>
<p><strong>Essential Criteria</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>A working understanding of, and commitment to, the Catholic ethos of a school in the Edmund Rice tradition</li>
<li>Demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours and professional boundaries that reflect child safeguarding values in practice</li>
<li>Certificate III or IV in Education Support, or currently completing one of these qualifications</li>
<li>Experience working with students and teachers in a Secondary school setting to deliver support for learning</li>
<li>Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff including the use of appropriate interpersonal skills</li>
<li>Experience with the use of ICT equipment and systems in an educational context</li>
<li>Ability to collaborate and work effectively as a member of a team </li>
</ul>
