Damascus College is seeking compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Officers (LSO) to join our team on a fixed-term basis until the end of the year.

<p><strong>Learning Support Officer&nbsp;</strong><br><strong>Fixed Term - Part Time (0.89 FTE)</strong></p> <p>Damascus College is seeking compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Officers (LSO) to join our team on a fixed-term basis until the end of the year. Working closely with Teacher Advisors, Classroom Teachers and SGE Coordinators, LSO’s play a vital role in supporting students with diverse social, emotional, physical and learning needs.<br><br> At Damascus College, you will be part of a supportive and values-driven community. This role provides the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people, while working alongside a committed and collaborative team.</p> <p><strong>Key responsibilities include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Support individual students or small groups within and outside the classroom under teacher supervision.</li> <li>Assist teachers in preparing learning materials and special teaching aids.</li> <li>Participate in planning, implementing, and reviewing Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and support documentation.</li> <li>Accompany students on excursions, camps, and other out-of-school activities as required.</li> <li>Provide basic physical, social, and emotional care for students, including assistance with toileting, meals, and lifting.</li> <li>Support the Catholic identity of the College, encouraging student participation in prayer, liturgy, and social justice initiatives.</li> <li>Participate in staff meetings and professional development.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Key Selection Criteria</strong></p> <ul> <li>Prior experience in an education setting working with young people and/or a qualification in Education Support will be highly regarded.</li> <li>The ability to support the delivery of progressive and innovative learning experiences for students.</li> <li>Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a small, supportive team.</li> <li>A genuine commitment to improving educational and wellbeing outcomes for young people.</li> <li>Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).</li> <li>Available to work 5 days per week Monday to Friday</li> </ul> <p><strong>Why Join Damascus College</strong></p> <p>At Damascus College, we are committed to fostering curiosity, innovation, and community.
