Classroom Teacher - Gamardi

Homeland School Company

Gamardi, NT

Primary Teacher

Contract Type: Contract Position Full Time

Applications Close: 13 June 2026

Homeland School Company (HSC) is growing, and we’re looking for a teacher to join our team on the Djelk Indigenous Protected Area at Gamardi!

This is a place for teachers who care about their craft. You’ll be working closely with students to deliver learning through a bi-cultural, place-based approach, where Country, culture, and community are central to teaching and learning in a remote, on-Country context.

This is not an easy role, but it is purposeful. It requires adaptability, strong classroom practice, and the ability to build genuine relationships while maintaining high expectations.

You don’t need to have all the answers. What matters is your attitude. If you are reflective, willing to learn, and committed to improving your teaching, we will support you to grow. Early career teachers are encouraged to apply.

At HSC, you’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive team. We plan together, share practice, and work through challenges collectively. You’ll be supported by strong leadership and a clear, evolving model of teaching and learning.

You’ll also work closely with community, learning from and alongside Indigenous cultures, knowledge systems, and ways of being. This requires respect, humility, and a willingness to listen.

This is a role that will grow you. You’ll strengthen your practice, build confidence, and be part of shaping an education model that makes a real difference.

If you’re a teacher who wants to improve, be challenged, and do work that matters—we’d love to hear from you.

Homeland School Company (HSC) was formed in 2023 after more than two years of sustained, on Country consultation with senior Traditional Owners, Djunggayi, families and educators across the Maningrida region. These conversations were driven by a shared concern about the long-term impacts of unreliable schooling on homelands, and a collective determination to build something stronger in its place. HSC's first homeland school at Gamardi has just received registration, and planning is now underway for future homeland schools at Gochan Jiny-Jirra and Buluh Kaduru, alongside on country learning facilities at Bolkdjam.
