Sacred Heart is seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Officers to join our inclusive school community in a casual capacity. These roles offer flexible opportunities to support students on days or during periods when staff are unavailable. The position will commence as soon as possible, with hours varying based on personal availability and school needs. There may also be the opportunity for this role to transition into a more permanent position.
<p>Our LSOs play a vital role in nurturing students’ learning, wellbeing, and sense of belonging. Working alongside classroom teachers, Learning Community Leaders, and the Learning Diversity Team, LSOs support students with diverse learning needs — ensuring that every child is known, valued, and supported to flourish.</p>
<p><strong>The successful applicant will:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Support the Catholic identity and mission of Sacred Heart through respectful participation in prayer, liturgy, and school life when in attendance</li>
<li>Assist students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities, learning difficulties, or EAL backgrounds</li>
<li>Provide respectful and discreet assistance with personal care where required</li>
<li>Support the implementation of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), and classroom adjustments as directed</li>
<li>Assist with supervision during breaks, transitions, excursions, and school activities</li>
<li>Work flexibly across classrooms and year levels based on daily staffing needs</li>
<li>Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with teachers and school staff</li>
<li>Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and a commitment to student safety and wellbeing</li>

<li>Supports students with diverse learning, behavioural, and personal care needs with compassion and professionalism</li>
<li>Follows direction to assist with ILPs, BSPs, and classroom adjustments</li>
<li>Builds positive relationships with students to support engagement and wellbeing</li>
<li>Works flexibly and collaboratively across different settings, maintaining clear and professional communication</li>
<li>Upholds Child Safe Standards, DOBCEL policies, and school expectations for safety and conduct</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Special Requirements</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Working with Children Check (Employee) & National Police Check</li>
<li>Current First Aid, Anaphylaxis, Asthma, and Mandatory Reporting training (or willingness to obtain)</li>
<li>Experience supporting students with diverse learning profiles (desirable)</li>
<li>Commitment to the Child Safe Standards, Catholic ethos, and DOBCEL policies</li>
