Resurrection Catholic Primary School is looking for a skilled grounds and maintenance person with a passion for creating a well cared for and well presented, safe school.
<p>This important role in our school begins on Monday July 13 with an initial 18 months contract until the end of 2027. Upon completion of this contract there is a strong possibility of an ongoing contact providing the suitabiity of the employee. The successful applicant reports to the Office Manager and the Principal.</p>
<p>The role is 5 days per week from 7am - 2pm each day with a half an hour break. </p>
<p>The salary for this role is approximately $51, 600 depending on experience.</p>

<p><strong>1. Purpose of the Role</strong></p>
<p>The Grounds and Maintenance employee is responsible for the upkeep, safety and presentation of the school’s buildings, grounds and facilities. This role supports the daily operations of the school by maintaining a clean, functional and attractive environment for students, staff, families, and visitors, in accordance with school policies, MACS requirements and occupational health and safety standards.</p>
<p><strong>2. Key Responsibilities</strong></p>
<p><strong>Grounds Maintenance</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Maintain lawns, gardens, trees and landscaped areas, including mowing, edging, pruning and watering</li>
<li>Ensure playgrounds, sporting areas, pathways and car parks are clean, safe and serviceable</li>
<li>Collect and dispose of green waste appropriately</li>
<li>Undertake leaf removal and preparation of outdoor areas for school events</li>
<li>Perform basic pest and weed control in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Building Maintenance</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs including carpentry, painting, plumbing and basic electrical tasks within competency</li>
<li>Conduct regular inspections of buildings and facilities to identify maintenance or safety issues and report concerns to the Principal, Administration Manager and OH&S Leader</li>
<li>Maintain doors, locks, windows, furniture, fixtures and fittings</li>
<li>Check essential services, including exits, emergency lighting and external doors</li>
<li>Regularly clean air purifiers and air-conditioning filters</li>
<li>Support the setup and reconfiguration of classrooms, offices and shared spaces as required</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Safety, Compliance and OHS</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and safe work practices</li>
<li>Identify and promptly report hazards, incidents and near misses</li>
<li>Ensure equipment and tools are maintained, stored safely and used correctly</li>
<li>Support emergency procedures, including lockdowns and evacuations</li>
<li>Contribute to maintaining a child-safe and inclusive school environment</li>
<li>Actively participate as a member of the school’s OH&S Team</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Event and Operational Support</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Assist with setup and pack-down for school events, liturgies, assemblies and community functions</li>
<li>Support contractors and trades on site, ensuring compliance with school requirements</li>
<li>Assist with delivery, movement and storage of equipment and supplies</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>General Duties</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Respond to maintenance requests in a timely, professional and courteous manner</li>
<li>Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks and report ongoing or major issues</li>
<li>Undertake other duties as directed by a member of leadership, consistent with the nature of the role</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>3. Key Selection Criteria</strong></p>

<li>Catholic Identity: Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education and understanding of child safety obligations.</li>
<li>Technical Skills and Experience: Demonstrated experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, or a similar role, with the ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks.</li>
<li>Safety and Compliance: Sound understanding of occupational health and safety requirements and the ability to work safely in a school environment.</li>
<li>Organisation and Reliability: Ability to manage tasks independently, prioritise work effectively and meet deadlines.</li>
<li>Communication and Teamwork: Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, contractors and visitors, and work collaboratively as part of a school team.</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>4. Qualifications and Requirements</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Demonstrated experience in grounds and/or building maintenance</li>
<li>Current Working with Children Check</li>
<li>Current National Police Check</li>
<li>Current First Aid, Anaphylaxis and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)</li>
<li>Ability to operate hand and power tools safely</li>
<li>Valid driver’s licence (desirable)</li>
<li>Commitment to professional learning and compliance with MACS policies</li>
<li>Understanding of Child Safe Standards and Catholic Education Melbourne requirements</li>
