St Michael's PS is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher to work as our Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader. Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for an Ongoing position (0.4) commencing the week beginning 13th July 2026.

<p>St Michael’s Primary School is a small Catholic co-educational primary school located in the rural township of Heyfield, approximately 40 kilometres from Traralgon and 35 kilometres from Sale. The school prides itself on being a welcoming community where everyone is valued and respected.</p> <p>Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for an Ongoing position (0.4) as St. Michael's Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader (MHWL) commencing the week beginning 13th July 2026. The school would provide appropriate transition and support prior to our current MHWL finishing in this role during Term 2. &nbsp;</p> <p>The MHWL will be a qualified teacher registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT), who works across the school to lead implementation of the Mental Health in Primary School (MHiPS) initiative. &nbsp;The role will: &nbsp;<br> · &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; build the capacity of school staff to identify and support students with mental health concerns. &nbsp;<br> · &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; support the school to create clear referral pathways and connect to local services for students identified as needing further assessment and intervention.<br> · &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; coordinate targeted mental health support for students by working with school staff, school community members and external agencies.<br> · &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; implement effective mental health strategies aligned with social and emotional learning and adapt a whole-school approach to wellbeing and learning initiatives.</p> <p>The MHWL promotes a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing to students, staff and families.</p> <p>MHWLs must be registered teachers but are not required to have a teaching role alongside their MHWL role. &nbsp;</p> <p>St. Michael’s will continue to receive funding for the Mental Health in Primary School initiative for 2026 and 2027.</p> <p>The successful applicant will have a strong commitment to the philosophy and ethos of Catholic education and to the safety and wellbeing of children. They will possess the necessary skills to provide students with a rich educational experience that reflects understanding of current educational initiatives and contemporary pedagogy. Applicants should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be prepared to embrace a team-based collaborative approach to teaching and learning.</p> <p>How to apply:&nbsp;</p> <p>Applications should be forwarded via email to the Principal.
