<p><strong>Job Title: School Counsellor</strong></p> <p><strong>Company: </strong>St Agatha's Primary School</p> <p><strong>Location: </strong>Cranbourne</p> <p><strong>FTE: </strong>Part Time (0.53 FTE) Includes 3 days 8:45am - 4:00pm</p> <p><strong>Commencement Date: Term 2, week beginning Monday 20th April (days can be negotiable with the successful applicant)</strong></p> <p><strong>About the Role</strong></p> <p>St Agatha's Primary School has a friendly, professional team of staff who provide a supportive work culture and a positive and inspiring work environment. We are currently seeking a School Counsellor to join our supportive compassionate team.</p> <p>The duties and the responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Provide counselling services to the students&nbsp;</li> <li>Communicate with parents</li> <li>Provide opportunities for individual and/or group counselling for students</li> <li>Communicate with classroom teachers and/or ESOs to assist facilitate targeted support for students requiring Targeted or Intensive Support</li> <li>Liaise with services in the local community for example, The Orange Door, DFFH, FV services</li> <li>Follow and keep up to date with all School policies and procedures related to Child Safety and Student Wellbeing</li> <li>Maintain and keep confidential and accurate records that are accessible to the school</li> </ul> <p><strong>Essential knowledge and Experience</strong></p> <p>The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate:</p> <ul> <li>Understanding of inclusive education practices and strategies to support diverse learning needs.</li> <li>Experience working with children in an educational setting, preferably within a primary school environment.</li> <li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and families.</li> <li>Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.</li> <li>Ability to use digital and online platforms in line with the needs of the school, for example SIMON</li> <li>Commitment to ongoing professional learning and maintaining mandatory training (first aid, anaphylaxis, child safety, mandatory reporting)</li> </ul> <p><strong>REQUIREMENTS</strong></p> <ul> <li>A valid Employee Working With Children Check</li> <li>Direct counselling experience</li> <li>Membership (or eligibility for membership) with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or relevant equivalent professional registration</li> <li>A bachelor-level qualification or a relevant specialist/postgraduate qualification in counselling, social work, psychology</li> </ul> <p><strong>How to apply</strong></p> <p>Further information on this exciting opportunity and application process can be found by contacting Principal, Michelle Bruitzman on 59962724</p> <p>Applications are to include a one page cover letter addressed to the Principal and a CV that includes three professional referees that can attest to suitability to work with children.&nbsp; Applications are to be emailed to&nbsp;<a href="mailto:<a href='mailto:principal@stacbourne.catholic.edu.au?subject=School%20Counsellor%20position%20%28via%20Teachers%20On%20Net%29'>principal@stacbourne.catholic.edu.au</a>?subject=School%20Counsellor%20position%20%28via%20Teachers%20On%20Net%29" rel="nofollow"></a><a href="mailto:principal@stacbourne.catholic.edu.au?subject=School%20Counsellor%20position%20%28via%20Teachers%20On%20Net%29">principal@stacbourne.catholic.edu.au</a></p> <p><strong>Applications close 27/03/2026 at 4pm.</strong></p> <p><i>Please note:&nbsp;the interview process may commence prior to the closing date and, if a suitable applicant is found, the role may close early.&nbsp; We would encourage applications to be received as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.</i></p> <p><i>St Agatha's Primary School is committed to the safety, wellbeing, participation, and empowerment of children.&nbsp; Staff are required to adhere to the School’s Code of Conduct, Child Safety Policy and Procedure, and be committed to the safety and wellbeing of children.</i></p> <p><i>The successful applicant must have the right to work in Australia, will be subject to background checks and required to provide a current VIT registration.</i></p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
