<p><strong>About the Role</strong></p>
<p>The Education Officer: Church Engagement focuses on improving the understanding and involvement of Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) students, staff and families in the Catholic Church through student, staff and family evangelisation, formation, and education.</p>
<p>The Education Officer: Church Engagement is required to perform tasks that include but are not limited to:</p>
<ul>
<li>analysing school, system and network data to identify trends and issues in levels of enrolled student Catholicism and engagement in faith, student and family mass attendance</li>
<li>working with the Manager: Network Catholic Identity to form a cohesive yet individual engagement plan across each network to improve the percentage and number of practising Catholic students in SCS schools who are actively engaged in faith</li>
<li>approaching faith formation of students, staff and families at the different levels which they are on in their faith journey, by developing a variety of blended learning mechanisms and resources, necessitating a broad approach to engagement with students, staff and families of a diverse range of Catholic beliefs, views and backgrounds</li>
<li>developing positive and proactive blended learning modules that impart Catholic doctrine in a manner that is contemporary and accessible to the broad spectrum of Catholic views of SCS staff, students and families</li>
<li>leading faith formation opportunities, retreats, and events for staff, students and families</li>
<li>ensuring that data is being effectively and critically analysed to inform initiatives</li>
<li>supporting the development of blended learning pedagogy, strategy and resources for staff, parents and students in faith formation, ministry and faith education</li>
<li>being present in the networks by observing, liaising with and developing relevant contemporary strategies to support schools in improving student, staff and family church engagement</li>
<li>exploring ways of creating engagement opportunities between parents, Parish and schools</li>
<li>liaising with Clergy, especially Clergy within the networks</li>
<li>reporting all concerns regarding child safety and allegations of inappropriate conduct to the line manager and the SCS Child Safety team. SCS is a child-safe environment and all concerns regarding child safety and allegations of inappropriate conduct will be treated seriously</li>
<li>promoting and implementing SCS' mission and vision</li>
<li>promoting and abiding by SCS' values</li>
<li>undertaking any other duties as directed from time to time.</li>

<p><strong>About You</strong></p>
<p>The successful candidate will also possess the following:</p>
<ul>
<li>university degree in Education or Teaching</li>
<li>postgraduate qualification in Religious Education, Theology, Education or another discipline</li>
<li>demonstrated five years minimum teaching experience in a school experienced in leading staff in professional learning</li>
<li>demonstrated success in improving student outcomes</li>
<li>demonstrated success in implementing school-wide initiatives</li>
<li>experience in using data analysis to inform educational initiatives</li>
<li>demonstrated ability to articulate contemporary educational trends in both local and international contexts</li>
<li>demonstrated high order written, oral and presentation skills</li>
<li>a current driver's licence</li>
<li>ability to respect, support and uphold the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of SCS</li>
<li>is a Baptised Catholic with demonstrated evidence of ongoing commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church and engagement in the life of a Catholic faith community such as a parish or an established community within the Catholic Church, as an expression of their relationship with Jesus Christ.</li>
</ul>
<p>You will have attained or be pursuing the following qualifications:</p>
<ul>
<li>a tertiary qualification in Education and NESA accreditation</li>
<li>ability to operate at the Highly Accomplished or Lead level of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers</li>
<li>accreditation to 'Teach Religious Education' in the Archdiocese of Sydney (Category D), in accordance with the "Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in systemic Catholic schools" policy within the Archdiocese of Sydney</li>
<li>accreditation or Provisional Accreditation for Senior Leadership in a Catholic School (Category E), in accordance with the "Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in systemic Catholic schools" policy within the Archdiocese of Sydney.</li>
