Provide classroom and practical support to TAS teachers and students, assisting with lesson preparation, materials, and maintaining safe and well-organised learning spaces. The role also involves supporting students during practical tasks and helping ensure equipment and resources are prepared for lessons.

The ideal candidate will be dedicated to delivering a rigorous academic program and fostering a culture of high achievement.</p> <p>This role provides practical and classroom support to teachers and students across TAS subjects, assisting in the preparation of materials, supporting student learning activities, and helping maintain a safe and organised workshop and learning environment.</p> <p>This position is engaged under the Independent Schools NSW (Professional and Operational Staff) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025 (PAOS).</p> <p><strong>About the Role</strong></p> <p>The Classroom Support Officer will work closely with TAS teachers to support the delivery of practical and classroom-based learning activities. The role assists in preparing materials, maintaining equipment and supporting students during practical lessons across TAS subject areas.</p> <p>This role requires a proactive and organised individual who enjoys working in a dynamic school environment and contributing to a safe and effective learning space for students.</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p> <p>The Classroom Support Officer will:</p> <ul> <li>Assist TAS teachers with the preparation and organisation of classroom and workshop activities.</li> <li>Prepare materials, tools, ingredients, and equipment required for practical lessons.</li> <li>Provide classroom and small-group support to students under the direction of the teacher.</li> <li>Assist in supervising students during practical learning activities.</li> <li>Support teachers with classroom organisation and learning resource preparation.</li> <li>Maintain TAS classrooms, workshops, and practical learning spaces in a clean and organised condition.</li> <li>Assist with stock control, ordering of materials and preparation of resources.</li> <li>Support safe use of equipment and ensure students follow workshop and classroom safety procedures.</li> <li>Assist with set-up and pack-down of practical lessons.</li> <li>Assist with supervision during excursions, school activities, and special programs where required.</li> <li>Maintain confidentiality when dealing with student information.</li> <li>Contribute to maintaining a safe and positive learning environment for students and staff.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Child Safety</strong></p> <p>St Spyridon College is committed to providing a child-safe environment. All staff are expected to actively support the College’s child protection policies and procedures and comply with legislative and regulatory requirements.</p> <p><strong>Workplace Health and Safety</strong></p> <p>Due to the practical nature of TAS learning environments, employees must:</p> <ul> <li>Follow all workshop and equipment safety procedures.</li> <li>Assist teachers in maintaining safe learning environments in classrooms and workshops.</li> <li>Take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others.</li> <li>Report hazards, faulty equipment, and safety concerns promptly.</li> <li>Assist in maintaining compliance with WHS legislation and College safety procedures.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Essential Criteria</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience working with young people in an educational or similar environment.</li> <li>Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and school staff.</li> <li>Strong organisational and communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to follow direction and work effectively as part of a team.</li> <li>Commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment.</li> <li>Understanding of child safeguarding responsibilities in a school setting.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Desirable Criteria</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience supporting practical learning environments such as workshops, kitchens, or laboratories.</li> <li>Certificate III or IV in Education Support (or similar).</li> <li>Experience working within a school setting.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Employment Requirements</strong></p> <p>The successful applicant will be required to provide:</p> <ul> <li>A current NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC)</li> <li>Willing to undertake a criminal history check</li> <li>Relevant qualifications and experience</li> <li>Evidence of right to work in Australia</li> <li>Referee details</li> </ul>
