<p><strong>Position&nbsp;</strong></p> <p>This is a full-time position either as a temporary contract or secondment for 3 terms (to 18 December 2026).</p> <p>Subsidised accommodation may be provided to the successful applicant.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Position Purpose</strong></p> <p>The Assistant Principal shares with the Principal in all aspects of the school’s leadership and management and takes responsibility for the school in the Principal’s absence. As a key member of the School Leadership Team, the Assistant Principal shares responsibility for leadership of the school’s vision, mission and improvement agenda in a way that reflects the Catholic nature of the school.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>The Assistant Principal works with the Principal in the four key areas of; Catholic Identity and Religious Leadership, Learning and Teaching, School Management and Student Care.&nbsp; Given the current distribution of responsibilities across the Leadership Team, two of the four key areas will be a particular focus for the Assistant Principal in 2026:&nbsp;<strong>School Management and Student Care</strong>.</p> <p>The leadership and direction provided by the Assistant Principal will be consistent with;</p> <ul> <li>The message of Jesus and the Gospels</li> <li>Catholic Church teachings, principles and values</li> <li>Armidale Catholic Schools policies and directives</li> <li>Armidale Catholic Schools Catholic Principles and Values</li> <li>Armidale Catholic Schools Mission and Vision Statement</li> <li>Armidale Catholic Schools Strategic Directions.</li> <li>Armidale Catholic Schools policies and practices including ACS Non-Negotiables of a Catholic Professional Learning Community, ACS Living Well Learning Well Student Support Framework and ACS Leading Well.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Commencement</strong></p> <p>The desired commencement date for this position is Monday 20 April 2026.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Essential criteria</strong></p> <ul> <li>An active Catholic with an appreciation of and commitment to Catholic life and practice.</li> <li>Four year trained classification with relevant experience.</li> <li>Possession of, or willingness to obtain appropriate qualifications in accordance with Category E of the Framework for Accreditation of Staff in Catholic Schools.</li> <li>Demonstrated deep knowledge of contemporary pedagogical practices and 7-12&nbsp; curriculum, with a demonstrated ability to implement these practices to a very high standard in contemporary classrooms.</li> <li>Demonstrated highly effective leadership, collaboration, communication, organisation and time management skills.</li> <li>Proven ability to work positively with students and their parents/teachers on behaviour support matters.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to develop staff at individual and whole school level and to build the leadership capacity of staff.</li> <li>Demonstrated capacity to build relationships with all groups in the school community.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Desirable criteria</strong></p> <ul> <li>Evidence of relevant recent professional development related to Religious Education, Leadership, Curriculum and Student Care/Wellbeing.</li> <li>Proficient in the use of ICT.</li> <li>Demonstrated skills in negotiation and conflict resolution.</li> <li>Demonstrated effectiveness in leadership role/s in Catholic School/s.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Conditions of employment</strong></p> <ul> <li>This is a temporary position until 18 December 2026 (3 terms).</li> <li>Staff already employed with Armidale Catholic Schools have the option of a secondment.
