We are seeking an energetic, mission‑aligned Head of Distance Learning to lead the strategic direction, development, and daily operation of this growing initiative.

<p>About the Role</p>
<p>St Philomena School has recently launched Australia’s first accredited Catholic, Classical Distance Education Programme, beginning with a 2026 Year 7–8 intake and expanding to Year 12 by 2030.</p>
<p>We are seeking an energetic, mission‑aligned <strong>Head of Distance Learning</strong> to lead the strategic direction, development, and daily operation of this growing initiative. This is a full‑time (1.0 FTE) on‑campus position, commencing immediately. Beginning in 2027, the role will also include a small teaching load. The school will offer an initial 12‑month contract, with the possibility of extension.</p>
<p>Key Responsibilities</p>
<p><strong>Leadership & Strategy</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Provide professional, courteous, and charitable leadership grounded in sound judgement, initiative, and emotional intelligence.</li>
<li>Develop and implement the strategic plan for the Distance Education Programme in alignment with the School’s Catholic and classical mission.</li>
<li>Recruit, appoint, and manage Distance Learning staff who are committed to the School’s vision.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Compliance & Accreditation</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Ensure all aspects of the programme comply with accreditation requirements, Commonwealth and State regulations, and internal policies.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Technology & Learning Systems</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Oversee the implementation and management of the School’s Learning Management System and associated digital platforms in collaboration with the IT department.</li>
<li>Ensure educational technology supports classical pedagogy while meeting ACARA requirements.</li>
<li>Consult with the Day School Curriculum Coordinator to guarantee the full and faithful delivery of the School’s Catholic, Classical Curriculum.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Curriculum Development</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Recruit and collaborate with course writers to develop high‑quality course materials suited to an online classical learning environment.</li>
<li>Oversee the distribution and management of course materials for Distance Education students.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Marketing & Enrolments</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Promote the Distance Learning School to increase visibility, strengthen its reputation, and grow enrolments.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Budget & Resource Management</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Manage departmental expenditure responsibly and efficiently, ensuring alignment with budget expectations.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Operational Management</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Oversee the daily operations of the Distance Learning School, including student management, administration, and engagement with parents.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications & Attributes</strong></p>
<p>The ideal candidate will:</p>
<ul>
<li>Hold current Australian Teacher Registration or be eligible for registration (essential).</li>
<li>Have leadership experience and a strong understanding of the Australian Curriculum and ACARA standards (essential).</li>
<li>Be personally committed to the Catholic ethos of the School and to serving students and families within a Catholic environment (essential).</li>
<li>Be a collaborative, solutions‑focused team player with strong organisational skills and the ability to set strategic priorities (essential).</li>
<li>Demonstrate experience integrating classical pedagogy within the Australian educational context (advantageous).</li>
<li>Possess a deep understanding of the Liberal Arts tradition and classical educational principles (advantageous).</li>
<li>Have experience in distance education (advantageous).</li>
<li>Be familiar with Microsoft 365, particularly Teams and OneNote (advantageous).</li>
</ul>
