We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate TAS / Kitchen Assistant to support the teaching of TAS and Hospitality in the College as well as supporting events that occur at the College.<br><br>
This is a part-time permanent position working 40 hours per fortnight, days can be flexible. <p><strong>About You</strong><br><br>
As part of the TAS Team you will assist the classroom teacher in providing a quality Catholic education focused on maximising student outcomes, through a holistic, student centred curriculum. You must be able to demonstrate:</p>
<ul>
<li>an understanding of the needs of the diverse needs of students who require individual and classroom support</li>
<li>ability to work collaboratively with teachers as a team member</li>
<li>excellent communication skills</li>
<li>ability to be organised, supportive and resourceful</li>
<li>a willingness to support the positive religious and cultural Catholic school environment for students</li>
<li>a Certificate III or IV in Educational Support from TAFE NSW or equivalent post-secondary qualification.</li>
</ul>
<p>This role reports to the Head of TAS and is responsible for the following:</p>
<ul>
<li>general Department ordering/purchasing/setting up/packing away (food, textiles, metal, timber, digital and catering requirements)</li>
<li>assisting in the classroom in Food Technology and Hospitality</li>
<li>maintenance of kitchens; setting up and packing away after classes/functions</li>
<li>maintenance of benches, equipment, floors, and walls to meet strict sanitation standards</li>
<li>sourcing equipment and materials and resourcing the space for elective subjects</li>
<li>other duties as required by the Principal.</li>
</ul>
<p>Requirements:</p>
<ul>
<li>a fundamental understanding of the basic Technology, Food Technology and Hospitality concepts being taught in schools and familiarity with the content of the curriculum</li>
<li>a fundamental understanding of Safe Handling of food products, sanitation and hygiene principles associated with food preparation and storage</li>
<li>knowledge of administration systems necessary for managing the faculty's resources</li>
<li>effective communication and teamwork skills</li>
<li>application of knowledge in a practical way to a wide range of situations to create and maintain safe working environments</li>
<li>ability to ensure that all equipment and resources provided to teachers are maintained to the highest standard and are appropriate and relevant to the learning outcomes</li>
<li>a willingness to assist teachers to provide the best possible learning outcomes for students and a commitment to education</li>
<li>ability to take initiative and be a self-starter</li>
<li>ability to be innovative and to solve problems</li>
<li>an ability to prioritise tasks and meet prescribed deadlines</li>
<li>a willingness to support the Catholic ethos of the College</li>
<li>ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong hygiene awareness, and basic cooking knowledge</li>
<li>physical fitness (standing for long periods, some moderate lifting)</li>
<li>a Food Safety Certificate is highly regarded</li>
<li>access to a vehicle.</li>
