We are looking for a passionate educator who can inspire and engage students in learning Humanities, from Years 9 to 12, and potentially Years 7 and 8 if required.</p> <p>The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the Humanities Faculty and other teachers to deliver innovative and engaging programs aligned with the Australian Curriculum, Tasmanian Certificate of Education, and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. They will also contribute to the pastoral care of students and participate in co-curricular activities, assemblies, and school events.</p> <p>This is an <strong>ongoing, full-time position (100% FTE)</strong>.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ensure any child safeguarding concerns are reported through the appropriate mandatory reporting channels and contribute to a child-safe culture where students feel empowered to raise concerns.</li> <li>Teach Humanities across Years 7–12 as required, engaging and inspiring students to achieve their potential.</li> <li>Develop, innovate, and implement Humanities programs consistent with curriculum frameworks, including the Australian Curriculum, TCE, and IB Diploma.</li> <li>Collaborate effectively with other Humanities teachers and colleagues to create a cohesive learning environment.</li> <li>Participate in the pastoral care system, including serving as a tutor for a group of students.</li> <li>Contribute to co-curricular programs, excursions, and school events as required.</li> <li>Maintain accurate student records and adhere to assessment and reporting requirements.</li> <li>Uphold the School’s Learning Principles, Learning Partnership Understanding, Purpose &amp; Concerns, and Quaker ethos in all interactions.</li> <li>Demonstrate ethical and professional conduct in dealing with students, colleagues, parents, and the wider school community.</li> <li>Complete all required professional learning and meet administrative/reporting deadlines.</li> </ul> <p>A full outline of responsibilities is provided in the <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/17FN2GfoYP5lsikt5DGvsCSyCL_ovORZi/view?usp=drive_link" rel="nofollow">Position Description.</a><br> &nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Essential Qualifications &amp; Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Fully qualified teacher, registered to teach or eligible to be registered to teach in Tasmania.</li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge and experience in delivering Humanities curriculum (Years 7–12), including development of engaging and innovative teaching programs.</li> <li>Understanding of the 10 National Child Safe Standards.</li> <li>Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with staff, students, and parents.</li> <li>Commitment to pastoral care and co-curricular programs within a school environment.</li> <li>Competence in classroom management, student assessment, and administrative tasks.</li> <li>Willingness to participate in professional learning and school improvement initiatives.</li> <li>Ability to work safely in a school environment and meet the inherent requirements of the role.</li> <li>Alignment with the Purpose &amp; Concerns and ethos of The Friends’ School.</li> <li>Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People registration (employment category) and current TRB registration certificate.</li> </ul> <p><strong>How to Apply</strong></p> <p>Please submit:</p> <ul> <li>A <strong>cover letter</strong> outlining your interest in, and suitability for the role.</li> <li>An <strong>updated resume</strong> detailing your relevant qualifications and experience.</li> </ul> <p>Applications close 11:59pm Monday 19th January 2026, however, we will be reviewing applications upon receipt and may commence our recruitment process prior to the closing date.</p> <p>Click the Apply button below to begin your recruitment journey with us!&nbsp;</p>
