Visual Arts Teacher – Primary School

Holy Child Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Visual Arts Teacher to lead our specialist Arts program in 2026. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore, create, and express themselves through a range of artistic media, aligned with contemporary practice and the Victorian Curriculum.
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Design and deliver a high-quality Visual Arts program aligned with the <strong>Victorian Curriculum (The Arts – Visual Arts)</strong> across Foundation to Year 6.</li>
<li>Use the <strong>MACS Vision for Instruction</strong> to ensure clarity, scaffolding, explicit modelling, guided practice, and high expectations.</li>
<li>Implement the <strong>MACS Vision for Engagement</strong> by fostering creativity, student agency, rich dialogue, and collaborative studio practices.</li>
<li>Teach a range of artistic forms including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, textiles, collage, construction, and digital art.</li>
<li>Differentiate learning based on assessment evidence to support diverse learners, including students with EAL backgrounds.</li>
<li>Curate displays, exhibitions, and whole-school arts experiences that celebrate creative expression.</li>
<li>Foster a safe, inspiring, and well-organised art studio environment.</li>
<li>Collaborate with staff to connect the Arts program with whole-school priorities and community events.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Essential Attributes</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Deep knowledge of Visual Arts pedagogies and contemporary art practices.</li>
<li>Ability to design sequential learning experiences that develop technical skills and creative thinking.</li>
<li>Strong understanding of working with multicultural learners, including EAL students.</li>
<li>Positive and proactive behaviour management strategies.</li>
<li>A commitment to continuous professional growth and reflective teaching.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Desired Skills</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience facilitating school-wide arts events, exhibitions, or community art projects.</li>
<li>Confidence using digital tools and technologies in visual arts learning.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Special Requirements</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Commitment to Catholic education and the safety and wellbeing of all children.</li>
<li>Current VIT registration.</li>
<li>Current accreditation to teach in a Catholic School or a willingness to gain Accreditation to Teach Religious Education .</li>
</ul>
