<p><i><strong>Opportunity to be part of a specialist school environment and to make an impact on the lives of students using innovative teaching methods.</strong></i></p> <ul> <li>Registered Independent Specialist school.</li> <li>Highly attractive remuneration package&nbsp;with Salary packaging available (up to 30K per annum) to reduce your tax and increase your take home pay.</li> <li>Position to commence early in 2026.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Who we are:</strong></p> <p>Djerriwarrh Community College is a registered independent specialist senior secondary school based in Melton.&nbsp; The College delivers the Victorian Pathway Certificate (VPC) and VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) certificate for students aged 15-19 years. It provides a safe and inclusive learning environment for young people who may have been disengaged or are at risk of disengaging from education.</p> <p><strong>Role:</strong></p> <p>The Assistant Principal is a senior leader responsible for supporting the Principal in both the strategic and operational management of Djerriwarrh Community College. The Assistant Principal is expected to deputise for the Principal when required and contribute to the overall leadership and management of the College as follows:</p> <ul> <li><strong>Operations and management:</strong> leads behaviour management, staff development, curriculum oversight and implementation of improvement initiatives to the College strategic plan.</li> <li><strong>Curriculum development, delivery &amp; assessment</strong>: leads curriculum quality and innovation, implements evidence-based teaching for diverse students, develops engaging assessments, and ensures individualised support and reporting to help students achieve their goals.</li> <li><strong>Financial &amp; Administrative management</strong>: in conjunction with the Principal, oversees financial and resource management, ensures compliance with data and funding requirements, conducts enrolment interviews and supports policy development and review.</li> <li><strong>Quality assurance</strong>: work with Principal on school reviews, continuous improvement in teaching and learning, and participating in quality assessments.</li> <li><strong>Student wellbeing &amp; safety</strong>: ensuring student safety and wellbeing by promoting a child safe environment, supporting staff and families, and adhering to relevant policies and practices.</li> <li><strong>Relationships &amp; communication</strong>: manages staff development, leads meetings, builds positive relationships, maintains professional communication and connects students with the community.</li> <li><strong>Professional standards and development</strong>: maintain professional credentials, pursue continuous development, uphold conduct and privacy standards, and participate in regular external supervision sessions.</li> </ul> <p>This is full time, three-year fixed term position commencing in early 2026.</p> <p><strong>Skills/Qualifications:&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><u>Essential:</u></p> <ul> <li>Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Registration.</li> <li>Satisfactory National Police History Check.</li> <li>Current Victorian Drivers Licence.</li> <li>A relevant tertiary qualification.</li> <li>Experience in the delivery of VPC, VCE VM or similar type of education program advantageous.</li> <li>Experience in leading staff in behaviour management strategies and restorative practice approaches</li> <li>Demonstrated experience in a similar role, ideally within a school environment.</li> </ul> <p><u>Desirable:</u></p> <ul> <li>Experience of working in independent special assistance sector is advantageous.</li> <li>Youth Mental Health First Aid Training or willingness to undertake.</li> <li>Berry Street Education Model Training or willingness to undertake.</li> <li>First Aid Training and Anaphylaxis Training or willingness to undertake.</li> <li>A commitment to Equal Opportunity and Workplace Health and Safety principles and practices.</li> <li>A commitment to continuous school improvement.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Position Description:</strong><br><a href="https://www.dcc.vic.edu.au/careers/assistant-principal/" rel="nofollow"><strong>Click here</strong></a> for position description &amp; application directions before submitting your application.
