Learning Support Teacher

Frensham is seeking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic Learning Support Teacher with a focus on High Potential Learners to join us from Term 4, 2025 (Parental Leave contract up to end of Term 2, 2026).

<p><strong>Position Overview</strong></p>
<p>Frensham is seeking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic <strong>Learning Support Teacher</strong> with a focus on High Potential Learners to join us from Term 4, 2025 (Parental Leave contract up to end of Term 2, 2026).</p>
<p>Led by the Head of Diverse Learning, the Learning Support Teacher assists teachers to identify, resource and implement appropriate academic and co-curricular adjustments and classroom strategies to meet the learning needs of students. The primary goal of the Learning Support Teacher is to ensure that students with specific learning needs are academically engaged and have the opportunity to enjoy all aspects of schooling life.</p>
<p>Our Diverse Learning Team plays an integral role in the education of many students; students with disabilities or learning difficulties, those who are neurodiverse and students who are gifted or twice exceptional. This is a team which actively develops, implements and supports diverse educational practices, across the whole school, to meet the needs of our diverse student population. </p>
<p>The position would suit:</p>
<ul>
<li>Experienced teachers with proven success in teaching at all levels, and keenness to join outstanding colleagues and highly motivated students in Australia’s leading boarding school for girls, or</li>
<li>Recent graduates with proven ability to meet the goals of the faculty.</li>
</ul>
<p>They will also possess strong interpersonal and organisational skills as well as be committed to implementing contemporary pedagogical practices.</p>
<p>All teaching staff are committed to a professional learning programme focused on improvement in professional practice as part of a school-wide pursuit of excellence in teaching.</p>
<p><strong>Position Responsibilities</strong></p>
<p>Duties related to the position include, but are not limited to the following:</p>
<ul>
<li>Facilitate effective learning opportunities for students of the Learning Support program with particular focus on High Potential Learners.</li>
<li>Assess students on their understanding of the content and skills which are specified in the NSW curriculum.</li>
<li>Work collaboratively within the Staff; including resourcing, programming and assessment development Co-curricular.</li>
<li>Assist in the conducting of routine assessments to identify students with learning needs.</li>
<li>Work 1:1 with targeted students.</li>
<li>Work with small groups of students.</li>
<li>Conduct regular visits to classrooms to support staff and assist individual students.</li>
<li>Assist students with literacy and numeracy needs.</li>
<li>Assist students with study and organisational needs.</li>
<li>Assist in the administrative functions, including updating the School database, tracking student data, creating student files and the like.</li>
<li>Assist in the administration of Disability Provisions during Examination periods.</li>
<li>Supervise large groups of students as required.</li>
<li>Attend to other matters appropriate to the position, consistent with the skills of the incumbent as directed by the Head, Deputy Head, Head of Diverse Learning.</li>

<li>Possess appropriate teaching and tertiary qualifications relevant to the position.</li>
<li>Dynamic and effective classroom practitioner.</li>
<li>Ability to differentiate instruction and cater for a range of learning abilities and needs.</li>
<li>Thorough understanding of the learning process, including the role of assessment and feedback.</li>
<li>A commitment to pastoral care and meeting the social and emotional wellbeing needs of students. </li>
<li>An understanding of and commitment to the educational needs of young women. </li>
<li>A commitment to collaborative teaching practices and an ability to contribute to a team and faculty of professional educators. </li>
<li>An ability to use ICT to facilitate and enrich student learning and engagement beyond the classroom. </li>
