We are seeking a Defence School Mentor (DSM) to connect Defence families, students, and the school. The DSM will support Defence students’ social and emotional needs by building relationships, organising activities, raising staff awareness of Defence lifestyle challenges, and guiding families. The role also involves working with the wellbeing team to provide ongoing support.

Committed to growth, the College offers its ongoing development opportunities and workplace flexibility.</p> <p><strong>The Role</strong></p> <p>Victory are inviting applications from passionate and motivated Defence School Mentors (DSM) to join our College Community in Semester 2 of 2025.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>As the DSM, you will support Australian Defence Force (ADF) children and their families within our school community. The role is dedicated to delivering the Defence School Mentor Program by providing practical assistance that supports the social and emotional wellbeing of Defence students. This position is funded by the Defence Member and Family Support (DMFS) Branch of the Commonwealth Department of Defence.</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Building positive relationships with Defence students through regular face-to-face check-ins</li> <li>Organising and facilitating activities and events to encourage peer connections</li> <li>Promoting understanding among school staff about the impacts of the Defence lifestyle on students</li> <li>Supporting Defence families by providing information and guidance about the school environment and wellbeing services</li> <li>Collaborating with the school’s wellbeing team and raising any concerns or support needs</li> </ul> <p><strong>What you’ll bring:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 12 months experience in a similar educational support role</li> <li>Specific experience with Australian Defence Force lifestyle and requirements would be highly advantageous</li> <li>Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills that portray a welcoming atmosphere, friendly disposition and helpful/supportive nature</li> <li>Have a full understanding of how to securely handle and manage the personal data of families in a school environment and to operate with the strictest of confidence</li> </ul> <p>Join a welcoming and community-minded school where your work makes a real impact.</p> <p>At Victory, it is our mission to deliver excellence for all in a Christ-centred College community, equipping and inspiring tomorrow's leaders.
