Principal, Lyneham Primary School

Lyneham Primary School provides high quality evidence informed instruction that builds explicit skills and knowledge for each learner in all areas of the Australian curriculum K-6.
<p>Situated in the inner north of Canberra, Lyneham Primary School is a P-6 school with approximately 585 enrolments. The school is a two-storey building, opened in 1959, with predominantly traditional style single unit classrooms. In addition to the classroom areas Lyneham Primary has a comprehensive Library staffed by a full time Teacher Librarian, Dance Studio, Environment Centre, Gymnasium, Art/Science room, Music tutor rooms, spacious Assembly Hall with a stage, After School Care program and a Breakfast program (3 days a week). The school is generously supplied with convenient sporting fields and facilities and operates two off site preschools in Lyneham and Downer.</p>
<p>Lyneham Primary School provides high quality evidence informed instruction that builds explicit skills and knowledge for each learner in all areas of the Australian curriculum K-6. They embed the Early Years Learning Framework in Preschool through a play based pedagogical approach. The curriculum is designed to ensure each student can access powerful learning to ensure their progress while developing a love of learning. Teachers are committed to promoting a culture of high expectations for their students’ academic success.</p>
<p>Lyneham Primary School operates with a strong sense of community. The wellbeing of students and their families is a priority with specific wellbeing programs for all year levels creating opportunities to build relationships with families through ongoing communication, partnership and opportunities to engage with classroom learning. Parents and families are recognised as integral members of the school community and partners in their children’s education.</p>

<p><strong>Eligibility/ Other Requirements:</strong> Prior to commencing in this role:</p>
<ul>
<li>A minimum of four years full time (or equivalent) tertiary study leading to the award of a recognised school teaching qualification;</li>
<li>A current full teaching registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) (or eligibility for teacher registration with the ACT TQI).</li>
<li>Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the <i>Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011</i> is required.
