About the Role

The Junior School Studies Coordinator (Preschool – Year 5) works directly to the Head of Junior School (P 5) and under the strategic leadership of the Director of Learning and Teaching. This is one of four Junior School Coordinators (Learning and Teaching Coordinator, Leader of eLearning and Teaching, Student Wellbeing Coordinator and School Chaplain) who, along with the Head of Junior School, comprise the Junior School Leadership Team. This team provides Christian leadership, implementation of the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the Junior School.

They are responsible for the ongoing development, compliance and administrative support of a rich and invigorating, Christ centred learning experience for students in the Junior School as part of the Junior School Leadership Team. They take the lead role in overseeing all aspects of compliance and administration in relation to the educational aspects of the Junior School as we deliver an authentic Christian curriculum, which gives attention to: 

> meeting the legislative requirements around the documentation and delivery of our educational programs 

> overseeing and managing all aspects of student reporting in the Junior School 

> overseeing, managing and reporting on all aspects of assessment programs related to the tracking of students from Preschool – Year 5, and 

> overseeing and managing teacher registration in the Junior School. 

The Junior School Studies Coordinator is a full-time Position of Responsibility 2 (PR2) and will undertake a 0.6FTE teaching load in the Junior School. This is a 12-month leadership position underpinned by an ongoing teaching position. Full-time and part-time applications will be considered.

Essential Criteria

  • A sharp, research-informed progressive vision of learning and teaching and the capacity to lead innovations that shape a Christian learning community of excellence. 
  • A gifted, dynamic teacher with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the development and educational needs of students 
  •  Excellent academic qualifications and subject knowledge, post-graduate qualifications or educational leadership experience highly regarded. 
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and a willingness to relate with compassion, humility, grace, strength and integrity to students, families and staff.
  • Excellent leadership and administrative skills, including team building, coaching and mentoring.  
  • Flexibility to work the hours required to meet critical timelines and other responsibilities of your role.
