Prince of Peace Lutheran College is seeking a Learning Enrichment Teacher.

Prince of Peace Lutheran College is a K-12 co-educational, independent, Christian school located in the north-western suburbs of Brisbane. The College was established by the Prince of Peace Lutheran Congregation in 1984 to provide quality Christian education to the children of the community.

Prince of Peace Lutheran College offers classes on two sites from Kindergarten to Year 12 with approximately 700 students enrolled. The Junior Campus (K-6) is located at Rogers Parade West, Everton Park. The Middle & Senior Campus, 1 km away at Henderson Road, Everton Hills was opened in July 2009 and is home to Years 7-12.

LEARNING ENRICHMENT TEACHER - OVERVIEW

The Learning Support and Enrichment Teacher plays a crucial role in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students in the Middle and Senior Campus. This role involves working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and support staff to provide differentiated instruction, intervention programs, and enrichment opportunities. The college is looking for an enthusiastic teacher who is personable, trainable and reliable.

The Role and Key Responsibilities

1. Student Support and Differentiation

  • Identify students requiring additional support or enrichment in collaboration with teachers and learning data.
  • Design and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and other personalised learning strategies.
  • Provide targeted support for students with learning difficulties, disabilities, and gifted learners.
  • Utilise evidence-based teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning needs.
  • Support students in small-group settings and within mainstream classrooms.

2. Teacher Collaboration and Curriculum Adaptation

  • Work alongside teachers to develop and implement differentiated curriculum strategies.
  • Provide guidance on best practices for inclusive education, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and adjustments for diverse learners.
  • Assist in the modification and differentiation of assessment tasks and classroom activities.
  • Support teachers in implementing strategies to extend and challenge high-achieving students.
  • Engage in teaching as may be required from time to time.

3. Assessment, Monitoring and Reporting

  • Use diagnostic assessments and data analysis to inform intervention and enrichment strategies and align with college data reporting cycles.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and learning plans.
  • Contribute to College-based learning support processes, including NCCD documentation and reporting.
  • Provide regular feedback to students, teachers, and parents regarding progress and strategies for improvement.

4. Student Wellbeing and Pastoral Care

  • Promote student engagement and resilience through pastoral support in line with Lutheran values.
  • Support students with executive functioning skills, study skills, and self-regulated learning strategies.
  • Work closely with college counsellors, chaplains, and pastoral care teams to support student well-being.

5. Parent Engagement and Communication

  • Collaborate with parents to develop strategies that support student learning at home and College.
  • Participate in meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and case conferences as required.
  • Provide parents with resources and guidance on learning support and enrichment strategies.
  • Ensure all written communication to parents or the wider community is written in correct, clear
    English and is checked by the appropriate person
  • Ensure all written communication follows the Style Guide for correct use of the College logo and
    corporate image
  • Document lesson plans and work programs, as required
  • Keep appropriate records of students’ learning and assessment

6. Professional Development and College Community Engagement

  • Engage in ongoing professional learning like, inclusive education and differentiation sessions, and College initiatives.
  • Contribute to the College's learning support and enrichment initiatives.
  • Support the Christian ethos and mission of the College through active participation in faith-based
    activities and events.
  • Maintain Teacher registration and teach classes as appropriate for college needs
  • Participate in Staff Development Sessions and Staff Meetings, as required
  • Participate in the Professional Learning Plan process and collaboratively work towards developing a Professional Learning Community
  • Attend whole college and P&F functions, e.g. Graduation/College Celebrations, Open Day,
    School Fete as required

7. Spiritual Life / Mission

  • Attend Chapels, assemblies as required and exercise appropriate supervision
  • Participate in staff retreat/spiritual development days
  • Undertake theological study/accreditation processes as required by Lutheran Education Australia,
    including Pathways (all teaching staff) and Equip (for the teaching of Christian Studies).

8. Legal / Financial Compliance

  • Follow and enact the college policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Ensure students’ use of information technology is properly supervised to ensure safe and acceptable use. Ensure own use of IT follows College policy and legal requirements
  • Abide by the College’s Workplace Health and Safety guidelines and undertake all training, as required

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in education (Special Education or Learning Support qualification preferred).
  • Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration.
  • Experience working with or a desire to work with students with diverse learning needs, including disabilities and gifted learners.
  • Knowledge of Australian Curriculum requirements for differentiation and inclusion.
  • Understanding of NCCD processes and inclusive education policies in Queensland is desirable.
