We now invite applications for a permanent full-time Prep - Year 2 Specialist Teacher - Literacy and Numeracy Focus who will commence 14 July 2025.

We are seeking a passionate and inspiring teacher who is eager to provide quality education and care for our students. The Specialist Teacher - Literacy and Numeracy Focus will support the learning of students in Prep through to Year 2 through response to data in the areas of Numeracy and Literacy. The Junior School is a member of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, and all teachers will use this framework for learning and teaching in the classroom.

Other Key Responsibilities include:

  • Attend and contribute to planning sessions with Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 teachers to enhance Literacy and Numeracy teaching and learning.
  • Collaboratively teach with staff in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy as needed.
  • Collect and analyse data to inform recommendations to support learning outcomes for all students.
  • Model best practice and evidence-based strategies for Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Create a nurturing learning environment which is learner centred, supportive, cooperative and aligned with relevant curriculum policies, documents and practices.
  • Collaboratively develop and implement quality curriculum programs using the IB PYP Framework and the ACARA curriculum; evaluate their effectiveness; assess and report student progress; and report these to students, parents and the community.
  • Work closely with our Inclusive Practices Team to inform programs that cater for the diverse range of learners within the classroom in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Foster and develop appropriate professional relationships with parents, guardians and the wider College community.
  • Commit to maintaining currency of professional knowledge and skills, and participate in the school renewal processes.

To be successful in this role you must:

  • Must have a current Queensland College of Teacher registration (or be eligible for registration).
  • Experience in early years teaching Prep - Year 2 with IB PYP experience preferable.
  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary Literacy and Numeracy best practice.
  • Demonstrated strong computer skills in Microsoft applications including but not limited to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, TEAMS, and OneNote.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact confidently and sensitively with staff, parents and students.
  • Current Provide First Aid Certificate.
  • Must satisfy all visa requirements for working in Australia.
