Eileen O'Connor College is dedicated to providing quality Catholic education for young people with a mild and moderate intellectual disability from Kindergarten to Year 12. Our college is named after Eileen O'Connor, the co-founder of Our Lady's Nurses for the Poor, who's ministry of healthcare, advocacy and friendship to the poor and disadvantaged was even more remarkable because of her own disability.

About You

As a Speech Pathologist, you will provide services to students with a focus on conducting assessments, developing individualised plans and collaborating with teachers and parents to support students' speech, language and communication needs.

You will also be committed to delivering high-calibre professional learning to the college's teaching and learning support officer staff. As an integral member of the school community, you will demonstrate the college's values and professional standards in interacting with students, staff, parents and the community.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• implementing speech and language interventions aligned with student personalised planning goals supporting student achievement and functional independence
• collaborating effectively with educators, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate students' language development and overall learning engagement
• liaising with external Allied Health teams and teachers to devise and implement strategies and class learning programs that promote language acquisition for students across all year levels
• actively participating in the Eileen O'Connor Catholic College's Diverse Learning team, monitoring students' communication growth via targeted interventions
• providing high-quality professional development sessions for school staff, emphasising leading specialised training in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) strategies
• maintaining meticulous records, ensuring compliance with all relevant educational and regulatory standards.

To thrive in this role, you will possess:

• a tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology
• a current membership with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)
• experience working with students who have a range of complex disabilities
• the ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
• the ability to identify or collect appropriate data to make decisions or evaluate outcomes
• strong interpersonal and organisational abilities
• a willingness to support the positive religious and cultural Catholic School environment for students.
