We are seeking passionate, innovative, energetic and agile leaders to join our school community, in Term 2 (start date negotiable). Each position will attract a POL1. If the successful candidate can do both positions this person will be given POL2 for undertaking both positions.

St Mary's is a small Catholic school located in Castlemaine with a current enrolment of 65 students and we are hoping to grow this number to 100 in the near future. Our school currently comprises of 3 multi-age classes and we are focused on empowering children to take responsibility for their own learning by providing them with strategies and skills to prepare for an ever-changing world.

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced teachers for the positions of Learning and Teaching Leader and Religious Education Leader. These leadership roles are integral to our school’s commitment to high-quality education and the Catholic identity of our community. The successful applicants will work within a dynamic and dedicated team, fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all students. Prior experience in one or both roles is advantageous.

About you

As an engaging and highly competent leader you will have a distinct focus on leading teachers in each area. It is expected that the successful candidate will work collaboratively with the principal and leadership team to build teacher capacity and Catholic identity in the school.

As a passionate and highly skilled leader, you will guide teachers in your area of expertise, working collaboratively with the principal and leadership team to build teacher capacity, enhance Catholic identity, and inspire excellence in teaching and learning. A key component of the Learning and Teaching Leader role will be the implementation of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) Vision for Learning—empowering flourishing learners by fostering deep learning, high expectations, and a commitment to excellence in education.

Success Criteria:

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

• A commitment to the Catholic ethos, the principles of Catholic teaching, and a dedication to living the school’s vision.

• The ability to promote and implement contemporary and innovative pedagogies and practices.

• A strong understanding of how to integrate digital technologies into the curriculum to enhance authentic learning experiences.

• A commitment to embedding MACS’ Vision for Learning into classroom practice, ensuring students are engaged in deep and purposeful learning that enables them to flourish.

• High levels of competency and proficiency as a classroom teacher.

• A collaborative and team-focused approach to teaching and leadership.

• Enthusiasm for contributing to a school community that values relationships and engagement.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

You will have:

• A tertiary qualification in Education.

• Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.

• Accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic Primary School is desirable; however, a commitment to obtaining accreditation may be considered.

• A commitment to upholding St Mary’s School’s Child Safety Policy and Code of Conduct, in line with Ministerial Order 1359.
