Ascham seeks an enthusiastic and motivated Teacher-Librarian for a Long Service Leave position in the Senior school for Term 2, 2025.

The Teacher Librarian will assist the Acting Head of Library in the provision of efficient and effective library and information services to meet the needs of the students, staff and wider Ascham community. They will teach Year 7 library classes, implement research skills development with classes and promote reading and literature in the Senior School.

At Ascham, teachers are responsible for the intellectual development and wellbeing of their students. Teachers deliver excellence in developing and delivering academic programs through the Dalton Plan, administration of student assessment and results, marking and record keeping.

To be successful you will possess:

  • Qualifications in teacher librarianship
  • Eligibility for professional membership with the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
  • NESA accreditation denoting experience in a school library
  • The ability to teach within the Dalton Principles of Responsibility, Independence, Collaboration and Reflection
  • Ability to create a stimulating classroom environment where students can flourish
  • Experience in library management and administrative procedures, with the ability to manage Ascham’s Library Educational Program and support teachers with curriculum planning, teaching research and information skills
  • A passion for literature and reading
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to both direct, and collaborate with other staff
  • Ability to provide an enthusiastic, positive, friendly, and pro-active service to library users
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, and work under pressure in a busy and varied environment
  • Knowledge of current technology in education and collection management systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
