We are seeking a full time permanent Payroll Officer to work throughout the year.

We are seeking a full time permanent Payroll Officer to work throughout the year.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Payroll Officer is responsible for the correct, accurate and timely processing of the school's payroll and all other payroll related duties including:

  • End to end processing of fortnightly payrolls
  • Collating all payroll input documentation and ensuring all claims for salary, overtime, etc are correct and authorised by approved personnel
  • Calculating and processing superannuation contributions, termination payments, annual leave and LSL provisions/accruals, pay increases and back pays
  • Updating and maintaining payroll records including filing, setting up new starters and annual archiving
  • Liaising with staff and management on payroll related queries
  • Understanding, interpreting and applying awards/ agreements and contracts in relation to overtime, shift allowances, leave etc.
  • Completing required payroll reconciliations and reports
  • Year-end payroll compliance including preparation of Payment summaries
  • Administer statutory and contractual maternity and paternity pay schemes
  • Assist with implementing system upgrades and performing regular backups
  • Conducting regular system and employee audits to ensure integrity of data
  • Assist with audit requests

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in a payroll position
  • Extensive system experience with Micropay Meridian
  • Ability to interpret complex awards and relevant legislation
  • Understanding of payroll procedures and processes i.e. tax, superannuation
  • Strong numerical ability and data entry skills with an attention to detail
  • Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Working With Children Check clearance
  • Have the right to work in Australia before applying for this role
