Chaplains/wellbeing officers in Victorian Catholic schools must abide by the Victorian Department of Education and Training’s NSCP Guidelines and the contract agreement between the school and chaplain/wellbeing officer. The guidelines include a MACS Code of Conduct which must be agreed to by the chaplain/wellbeing officer.
St Mary's has zero tolerance towards Child Abuse.
All NSCP chaplains/wellbeing officers must meet the NSCP's minimum qualification requirements, these being a/an:
Certificate IV in Youth Work or
Certificate IV in Pastoral Care*
Certificate IV in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care (CHC42315) or
equivalent qualification (as determined by the State) that must include competencies in mental health and responding to client needs (incorporating making appropriate referrals) such as a wellbeing leader.
*Certificate IV in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care (CHC42315) has replaced Certificate IV in Pastoral Care (CHC41108).
