This position is as a Learning Diversity / Special Education Leader at St Michael's School, Ashburton. This is a replacement position for 2 days per week (days negotiable but Thursday and Friday are preferable) commencing Term 3, 2025

<p>St Michael&#39;s Catholic Primary School, Ashburton, is seeking a teacher / leader with some experience in the field of Student Wellbeing.</p><p>This role will collaborate with our classroom teachers and other leaders to support and help design, implement and evaluate wellbeing programs and resources. An understanding and experience with the School Wide Information System of data is highly desirable but not essential.</p><p>A current understanding of students on the autism spectrum and experience with implementing a range of strategies for support is required for this position. An ability to collaborate with classroom teachers and work with families in planning for and supporting student programs is essential.</p><p><strong>This is a replacement, part time leadership role, commencing the week beginning Monday 19th May, 2025, until the end of the school year. It carries with it a leadership allowance of POL 1. </strong></p><p><strong>The successful applicant will:</strong></p><ul><li>demonstrate experience with classroom teaching and model effective behaviour strategies</li><li>work with all leaders to lead and co-ordinate the implementation of Social, Emotional Learning<strong> </strong>from Foundation – Year Six and engage others in our Catholic school vision</li><li>creative ways to integrate evidence-based practice into our academic and behaviour curriculum, to improve educational and behaviour outcomes</li><li>exercise the behaviours and dispositions of a highly effective leader i.e. be student centred, promote life-giving relationships, support evidence-informed improvement, believe in and pursue their own learning and growth and provide clarity and direction for staff, students and parents</li><li>show a commitment to role modelling respect for every student’s individuality and learning diversity need</li><li>demonstrate an ability to cultivate respectful relationships between students, staff and families</li><li>oversee the implementation of the Child Safe Standards, Respectful Relationships, Student Action Teams, SRC and Positive Behaviour Support</li><li>display excellent communication skills with a recognised ability to build authentic relationships</li><li>display a commitment to work in a Catholic Education environment, showing a knowledge of the Vision for Instruction</li><li>have a commitment to Child Safety and a knowledge of Child Safety Standards</li><li>registration with the VIT</li></ul>
