Library Services Specialist

We are now seeking to appoint a full time, term time only Library Services Specialist.
<p>Ongoing, term-time only position</p><p>Situated within moments of the CBD, International Grammar School (IGS) is Sydney's unique independent, coeducational, secular school offering quality teaching from Early Learning to Year 12. Our unique bilingual program immerses students in a second language every day. </p><p><i>Unity Through Diversity</i> is our vision for an equitable, inclusive and regenerative world.</p><p>The School is seeking a Library Services Specialist for our award winning Bibliothèque which provides a Preschool to Year 12 library and learning hub, inspiring a deep love of reading and of research, and to build the intellectual life of our School. </p><p><strong>The role:</strong></p><p>This is an ongoing appointment, working during school term time only. The role is advertised for commencement in Term 2, or earlier by negotiation. </p><p>We are seeking a Library Services Specialist to ensure the efficient operation of the Bibliothèque, supporting the Director of the Bibliothèque and Teacher Librarians in delivering high-quality library and research services. The successful candidate will foster a student centred learning environment - with a focus on students in Years 7 to 12 - integrating digital resources, research support, and emerging technologies to enhance student learning. </p><p><strong>Key responsibilities include:</strong></p><ul><li>Providing research and information literacy support to students and staff, including guidance on academic referencing, database searching, and digital research tools.</li><li>Managing and curating library collections, including cataloguing, e-books, research databases, and monitoring usage trends.</li><li>Maintaining and promoting library-based technology and digital services, such as the Library Management System (Oliver), OPACs, ClickView, and research tools.</li><li>Creating a welcoming and engaging library environment, supporting student learning, collaboration, and independent study.</li><li>Supervising students during Bibliothèque opening hours, including Study Periods and After-School Study.</li><li>Overseeing circulation desk operations and assisting with library policies, procedures, and space management.</li><li>Collaborating with staff and delivering workshops on research skills, digital literacy, and citation management.</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p><p>The successful applicant will:</p><ul><li>hold a relevant TAFE diploma or tertiary qualification in Library and Information Services, or a related field</li><li>Be eligible for professional membership with ALIA (Australian Library and Information Association)</li><li>have experience working in a school, tertiary education or public library</li><li>have experience with Library Management Systems (Oliver preferred), e-resource platforms, and research databases</li><li>possess highly effective skills for teamwork and be a life-long learner with a passion for developing their professional skills and knowledge</li><li>be available to work hours within the range of 7am and 6pm</li></ul><p><strong>Application details:</strong></p><p>To apply for this position, please visit our website<a href="http://www.igssyd.nsw.edu.au" rel="nofollow"><u> www.igssyd.nsw.edu.au </u></a></p><p>Here you will be able to review the Position Description and our Privacy Policy and learn more about International Grammar School.
