Key Responsibilities and Duties:

1. To provide students with effective counselling support and assistance, and referral to appropriate agencies if required;
2. To discuss in confidence any matters that relate to a student’s welfare with the appropriate personnel;
3. To deal with students in a positive and growth-promoting way, at all times displaying respect and compassion;
4. To maintain currency in personal professional learning and to undertake regular supervision of counselling practices;
5. To support parent/family as appropriate through support and referral;
6. To carry out other tasks as negotiated with the Principal.

Essential Criteria:

1. Have a commitment to uphold the ethos of Catholic schools;
2. Understand the employer’s requirements and act in accordance with Catholic Education and the College’s policies, guidelines and procedures;
3. Participate in College meetings to inform and be informed; and,
4. To commit to ongoing professional development, maintaining a portfolio of training undertaken.
