The College is seeking an enthusiastic Science & Religious Education Teacher for a 12-month maternity leave position, commencing in Term 2, 2025

St Dominic’s College, Kingswood is a Catholic school in the Blessed Edmund Rice tradition conducted by Edmund Rice Education Australia. Founded by the Christian Brothers in 1959, the College has a current enrolment of just over 1000 boys, Years 7 – 12. The mission of St Dominic's College is to create a caring environment where excellence in Education is evident within the Catholic tradition and the Spirit of Edmund Rice.

The College is looking to appoint a highly motivated, suitably qualified Science and Religious Education teacher commencing at the beginning of Term 2, 2025 for a 12-month contract.

As a Science and Religious Education Teacher at St Dominic’s College, you will be instrumental in fostering a love for learning and inquiry among our students. You will have the opportunity to teach Stages 4 and 5, and may have the opportunity to teach Stage 6, engaging with a diverse curriculum.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective Science and Religious Education lessons tailored to different learning styles and abilities.
  • Assess, evaluate, and provide feedback on student progress in alignment with College policies and NESA guidelines.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative teaching strategies and cross-curricular initiatives.
  • Engage with the broader College community and contribute to pastoral and co-curricular programs.

Essential Criteria:

  • A working understanding and strong commitment to Catholic values, morals, and faith in the Edmund Rice tradition.
  • Holds the undergraduate qualifications required to be able to teach Science and Religious Education in a secondary school setting
  • Accreditation with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) or eligibility to obtain it.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Sound knowledge of the unique learning needs of young men.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to professional development and ongoing learning.

Highly Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience teaching Science and/or Religious Education across Stages 4 & 5
  • High ICT skillset within a contemporary blended learning environment.
  • Demonstrated passion for student-centred learning and a proven ability to effectively engage students.
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills; must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities within given deadlines.
  • Be actively involved in, and supportive of, College co-curricular activities

Teachers at St Dominic’s College are employed under the NSW Catholic Independent Schools (Teachers – Model B) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2023 and may attract higher levels of renumeration.

The salary will be reflective of NESA accreditation level and teaching experience, with an estimated annual salary between $91 974 - $132 117
